I know there are a lot of great RBs in the 2012 class in Ohio like Jaylen Prater, Terrell Dorsey, Brionte Dunn, Alex Winters, SaeVon Fitzgerald, V'Angelo Bentley, Toneo Gulley and William Mahone (I know I'm missing a few)...but I LOVE what I am hearing about Ball...

DeSales Sophomore Showing Early Strides | Bucknuts.com

Posted by Mark Porter on Oct 09, 2009 at 01:11 pm

Last week, Bucknuts.com took a look at 2012 RB Brionte Dunn from Canton GlenOak high school and how he was developing at this early stage in his sophomore campaign.

Today I would like to look at another RB in the class of 2012 who is making waves in recruiting circles this season. Warren Ball from Columbus St. Francis DeSales high school has earned his way into the RB rotation this season and is making the best of it. At 6-1 and 190 pounds, he already has more than enough size to play RB in college and is showing glimpses of big-time speed and quickness to this point. As this season progresses, Ball's workload in the back field should increase as he grows in the offense.

Warren Ball
Brionte Dunn

...the reasons we aren't taking a RB this year...

Understandable, but what about Rushell Shell, isn't he just as good if not better than the both?
And say we brought in 2 or 3 of these guys, what would our depth at RB look like these kids' incoming frosh year, assuming no one leaves for the draft or transfers?

Shell should, and will, definitely receive a long look... I was mainly pointing out the in-state talent we've got and the fact that we don't NEED to look out-of-state for somebody at the position.

Shell will likely be a top 10 player in the country and a player that we are in great shape with. We will send the house at him. However, it will be interesting to see how Ball and Dunn shape up in state...I can't see us possibly passing on both. Ball has really good intangibles...he sees the holes and hits them at 100 mph. He is a load to bring down up top but will need to develop some lower body strength and balance. Overall, you can tell Ball has the right size and tools to develop into a great back.

If all 3 want to come you take them...

They are all very very good...From film, they will all be special backs IMHO...all have size, speed, and good vision...

I do think Ball is top in the state tho, and why he might not be ranked as high as Shell, he is right there in talent...

Ball runs like Ingram, not saying he's going to be that good, but I like his downhill and physical style.

The last tape I saw on Dunn scared me a little bit. He looked like he added weight (which is natural) and wasn't as explosive as I previous thought.

Dunn is on a fast track to defense if he keeps gaining weight. I'm hoping the transition from Alliance to Glen Oak just allowed him to slack off in off-season training. That won't be an issue this year.

I don't know. I have seen Shell a couple more times then Ball last year and if I was forced to only take one it would be Shell. I think Ball is fantastic but I really believe Shell is a special player.

Good problem to have and a lot of development can take place in the next couple of years.
