Good Lord! Probably put on a good ten pounds of muscle. No need to worry if we will have a power back to fill in for Hyde while he is out.

Ball is a RS Frosh coming off foot surgery and either 4th or 5th on the depth chart based on whether Hall is considered in the RB group; and he's giving Mike Mitchell piggy back rides into the end zone.

I want to point that out because every year OSU gets a commit from some hot 5* LB prospect, so somebody gets on the message boards and starts talking about OSU signing the next Andy Katzenmoyer. Folks, you don't realize why Katzenmoyer was special. OSU signs a Sabino or a Mitchell or a Grant or a Bell or a D'Andrea or whoever every class.

There's only one Big Kat.

Rant aside, I am excited to see Ball get an honest shot to work his way up the chart.

Yeah, there will never be another Katzenmoyer. He was just inhuman.

I understand, and partially agree.

But it was just one practice...

He and Brionte Dunn would start for any other team in the conference and 90% of college teams. At least Ball and Dunn will get a fair amount of carries behind Smith during Hyde's 3-game suspension.

I agree and made the same point in Mitchell's thread when others touted him as big kat2.0 after he had some great times in the 40 and track. Hell eventually be something special. And even though it's only 1 practice, I really like hearing this about Ball, I figured he'd be a dark horse in the RB race, but he does offer a very good skill set, with his size, athleticism, speed and ability to catch the ball. I could see him being split out possibly at times. I can't wait to see the diamond formation sometime as well to get the best RBs out there all at once. He should get some good reps with Hyde out

I think they're fantastic (always been a huge Warren Ball fan) but this is a big exaggeration; I get what you're saying but NW (Mark), Wiscy (Gordon, White, etc.), Nebraska (Abdullah) are 3 that pop into my head.

That being said, they balance each other very well and I think Ball is a complete back, someone that could be out there 3 downs. Keeping my fingers crossed he stays healthy.

I think this has been posted elsewhere but I am interested to see if guys like Ball can be used in the diamond formation. Seems like he has pretty good hands. It certainly seems we are way more loaded with RB types than WR and I wonder if we will see formations geared toward getting more of them on the field at a time. I just went back and watched some of Warren's videos and if he stays healthy the kid looks legit. I hear a lot of talk about our depth at the RB spot but it's more than that, it's the quality of the players. Wow.

With Smith suspended for the opener and Jordan Hall moved to H-back, it'll be Dunn and Ball toting the rock against Buffalo...
