Hard to take too much from a game against Kent State, but I really liked what I saw out of Smith, both in the field and on special teams. Seems like it's been a while since we had a real dynamic athletic playmaker in the secondary, and he looks like one.

Dude is a total stud. He just has a certain swagger and presence on the field to back it up. I have said it before but it would not surprise me if he ends up in the top 3 guys from a LOADED 2014 class. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.
Agree...he looked fast, aggressive, confident. Obviously a kid with all the right tools. Should be fun to watch him develop!

Powell was clutch but Smith seems like the better overall athlete. I wouldn't be surprised to see a job-sharing scenario like with Grant and Raekwon last year. Smith has to get solid minutes this year so that he's a veteran in 2016.

I hope to see a lot of opportunities for Smith to learn and grow next fall. He saw spot duty and looked like a talented true freshmen who wasn't close to ready.
