Sound Off !!! - Introduce Yourself

Howdy Buckeye Planet!

Hi eveyone! Thought I'd sign up for the Buckeye Planet forums since there seems to be a bit of an exodus from Bucknuts (forced or otherwise). Anyway, I've been a Buckeye fan since I can remember - my late grandfater graduated from tOSU in 1918 and I grew up watching the Bucks with him (in the 70s). When it came time for me to choose a school, there was never really much question where I wanted to go. Sure, I applied to Miami(OH) and a few other state schools, but my heart was, and always will be, with Ohio State.

Anyway, I've been out of school since '97 and now live in Colorado. I've got about 10 close friends from college that also live out here and in the fall, we get together on as many Saturdays as we can.

So, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

Take care, and Go Bucks!!

FCollinsBuckeye,
I am also a OSU alumnus. I go to grad school at UWyo. I believe that I may be the only Buckeye fan in the city of Laramie, besides my soon-to-be wife. Do you and your friends go anywhere in particular to watch the games in Ft Collins? If so, let me know where and I may join you on Saturdays next season. Watching the games alone just isn't the same. Go Bucks!!!!!!!

Welcome FCollins, good to have you aboard. Please check out the "Sound Off" thread in the Reference Locker Board under Varied Interest. Your post could go in there almost unchanged. That goes for anyone new to the board. Check out the "Sound Off" thread and let us know where you're from and why you're a Buckeye.

Hello everyone at Buckeye Planet!

I was born in Toledo in '72. My grandfather was an Ohio State graduate (class of '18) and instilled a love for all things Buckeye in me at a tender age. I always knew I'd be a Buckeye, and I ended up graduating with a BS from the College of Engineering in 1995. I followed up with a MS from tOSU in '97, at which point I loaded up all of my things into my pickup and moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado. I've been loving life out here every since. I have since met my wife (been married for 2 years) and, while she's not a true Buckeye (she went to Ball State), she is fairly enthusiastic about Buckeye Football.

I'm hoping to make it to CBus for the Texas game in '05 and then to Austin in '06.

Go Bucks!

As with many others here, I am a Buckeye born and bred. I've been a fan of the Buckeyes for as long as I can remember and I'm almost 57 now. Spent 22 years in the Air Force similar to Mili. Just wasn't lucky enough to ever get stationed in Hawaii. I'm also a died in the wool Washington Redskins fan going back to the days when they wore the helmet that had the feather up the back. As a kid I just thought that was so cool and have followed them ever since. So that's why I chose the user name I did. Not as interesting as some of the other posts here but now you know a little more then you did before.

I was born in Agana, Guam (my father was in the Navy), and was raised in Loudonville, Ohio -- the hometown of Ron Zook, Dick Schafrath, and Larry Siegfried. My father attended OSU for undergrad and optometry school, and it is because of him that I bleed scarlet and gray! (He taught me the words to Carmen Ohio when I was old enough to talk -- now I cannot listen to that song without smiling and shedding a tear.) When I was in high school, my father passed away after a two-year battle with cancer. Even though he instilled in me such a rabid Buckeye spirit, I chose to attend Ohio Wesleyan University because I just wasn't ready for that large of a school, especially growing up in such a small town. After graduation I moved to Tempe, AZ and got my master's degree at Arizona State. It was then that I realized that there is nothing better than OSU football, as the atmosphere in Sun Devil Stadium and around Pac-10 football in general just wasn't the same!

After living in North Carolina (Durham), and then back to Arizona (Tucson), I got a job at Ohio State. It was so relieving to be back in Ohio and surrounded by Buckeye fans again! I fell in love with an OSU Ph.D. student on campus, and we now live in Boston, Mass., since he has graduated. Even though he's an OSU grad, he's not that big of a football fan, but he loves to watch the games with me -- he laughs a lot b/c I tend to really get into the games. (I know a lot about football for a girl!) :)

Over the years my favorite Buckeyes have been Archie Griffin (I met him when I was very little), Chris Spielman, Eddie George, and all the really cute ones, especially Mike Vrabel, who I'm currently stalking in Boston (just kidding!).

Anyway, if you've made it this far, thanks for listening.

I am originally from Wooster, Ohio, and am now in the Dayton area. I graduated from Wright State in 2002 and now work in Springfield. I've been a Buckeye fan all 25 years of my life, due mainly to my father's interest. My fiancee is a 2001 graduate of the University of South Carolina, so I pull for them as well (not nearly as much as the Bucks, especially in any bowl situation). I'll be a lurker 99% of the time, but I am looking forward to all this board has to offer.

Lifelong Buckeye fan here from the Dayton area. My birthday falls in mid-November, and many a time, I've had what should be a joyous occasion ruined by that school up north. I cried when the Bucks lost to MSU in '98, and I cried again when they won the Fiesta Bowl against Miami. My favorite Buckeye football player is Craig Krenzel, my favorite in other sports is Derek Anderson (basketball, check the siggy, you'll know why.) My favorite Buckeye-related possession is the champagne bottle I popped open at the end of the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. My favorite Buckeye moment is the spontaneous roadtrip me and my best friend took to the Illinois game in 2002, on my birthday. I attended Ohio State starting in the autumn of 1999, but transferred at the end of my second year for academic/bureaucratic reasons. I am 2003 graduate of Capital University, where I double majored in History and Philosophy.

Update 2/4/2005: I now live in Huber Heights, proud home of Will Allen and Marcus Freeman. I am about to enroll in grad school at Wright State University after nearly two years in the workforce. I will be seeking an M.Ed. in the Student Affairs in Higher Education program. I am looking to one day work in admissions, or maybe an athletic department. I hope to someday return to Columbus to work for Ohio State or my alma mater.

I was a Navy brat growing up. Born and (mostly) raised in Maryland. My Dad was from western Ohio, Mom from Jax, Fl. When my Dad retired from the military we moved back to his hometown of Coldwater, OH. I went to HS there and on to OSU. Was *ALWAYS* a big Buckeye fan growing up. I put my foot through a bathroom door when Oklahoma made that kick in the 70s!

I graduated from Ohio State in 1986 with a BA in Spanish language and Literature and now work as a computer professional for the State of OH in Columbus.

<<yawn>> "So what?" you ask? :sleep2:

I was not born into a Buckeye family. My first recollection of OSU was in 1973. I met Archie and got his autograph at the March of Dimes walkathon here in Chillicothe. I went out for the Jr high football team and started with the 8th graders, this was my first football experience, except for tossing the ball in the yard. (Thanks Archie!) I played 3 yrs. at (Frankfort) Adena. I didn't get to any OSU games, but I listened on the radio and read everything I could.I joined the Army out of HS. I've lived in Savannah,GA, Phoenix,AZ and Spangdahlem,Germany.I always tried to stay up with the Bucks as much as possible. My favorite Buckeyes are Archie,Joe Germaine, Chris Spielman and most recent Ben Hartsock(my daughter went to school with, but they were my biggest rival in HS) I've been to one OSU game( vs. Akron, the rededication game with the alumni band) I loved every minute of it. I have pics but they are too big to upload. (any suggestions)

hello buckeye planet!
glad when i found this board... much less garbage here... all buckeyes all the time, the way it should be.
i was born in '84 in the heart of C-bus... lived on 13th, a mile away from the 'Shoe. always been a buckeye, but moved to Richmond, VA b/c my dad got a job there, and went to middle and HS there... my parents could care less about sports in general, but i've always been an avid fan for some reason... like some others i cried like a baby after the '98 MSU loss, and cried again after the '02 fiesta bowl.
came back to tOSU for college, and right now i'm a sophomore at tOSU, busting my balls for winter quarter finals next week. trying to keep that F'ing GPA respectable. as yet no idea what career i'm pursuing...

my favorite buckeye was antoine winfield (as a 5'6'' CB/TB when i played football he was someone to look up to), and every senior on that '02 defense.
