Have you considered an option for monthly subscription that does not require opening a Paypal account? Is there any way to set that up with payments directly from a credit card or account? I know the big cos., like QVC for instance, manage to do monthly payments without using PP.

I despise that company due to past experience (in a long life of dealing with irritating businesses, theirs is the only one I've ever severed relations with in a profanity-laced email). Even for you guys, I can't bring myself to break my vow of abstinence from them.

Seconded...I threw in a one timer today..but would like to also add on a monthly..but would rather not paypal it.

Anyway...I'm looking forward to when my first banner catches up with my account..I'll admit I have been a bit ashamed to not have done so sooner and year after year....

Too bad there wasn't a way I could auto-donate other than PayPal...guess I'll just have to do the old-fashioned check-by-mail routine.

I would definitely make a monthly donation if it were possible to just have an automatic credit card payment.

I wonder what is the stat on number of users the past month versus number of those donating to the Spring Drive?

Everybody wants to have access to BP on days as recent as National Signing Day - and damn well used the site then. How about being the ? percent user who gives just a tiny amount as thanks for the service? - like a latte or cocktail's worth of "thank you" a month. I'm betting that if just 10% of users signed up for 5 or 10 bucks a month, all of the uncertainty of the costs of improvements and upgrades on the site would be eliminated.

Stat mavens know the user to donation stats?

I say we do an apocalypse drive at the end of the year this year... You know, have some special kool-aid for all the guests to drink, AFTER they've made their donations of course!

Maybe throw a Zombie banner up there with the apocalypse date on there.

Since it's a bit hidden in that lengthy first post, I'll add that the monthly subscription is PayPal's recurring payment system, so you have total control over how it works and when it ends.

Both the donor link and the monthly subscription form just pre-fill amounts, username, and Clarity's payment account to PayPal's forms. The system records the username and times people did PayPal transactions, but real names and financial info don't touch BP's database at any time. PayPal emails the confirmation directly to the Bryants without our server being involved at all.

Thanks for explaining that. I was not sure if I needed to renew my monthly donation and now I know that I just need to do nothing, something I am highly qualified to accomplish!
