Heuerman plays in a running attack that emphasizes his ability to block. At 6'5, 225 he has the prototype frame to work with, he might even add an inch or two. Heuerman has excellent hands and the ability to make plays when the ball is in the air. He has solid core strength and will only add to it in the future. He is raw as a route runner and needs to work on his speed. -Geoff Vogt, Florida Recruiting Analyst

Michigan legacy.... we know a thing or 4 about that!

(Unless I'm missing someone... Downing, Gonzalez, Boren, Boren...)

Michigan circa 2010, isn't his father's Michigan anymore. Aside from the obvious problems in the program, UM will have a very high wall to climb in selling that offense to any tight end recruit.

Really? If anything I thought it would be easy to sell a TE on the spread, wouldn't they get the ball more?

I hope this kid is one of our next offers, I'm hoping we get 1-2 TEs

We will see. I read on MGOblog( I think) that the offense has been doing alot out of 2 slot formations and that the TE(Koger or Webb) isn't eve on the field a majority of the time. I agree in principle that a Dallas Clark type of TE could be a huge weapon in a spread offense. For whatever reasons UM hasn't used the TE very successfully under RR. My thinking would be that if this Kid committs to Michigan's sinking ship it will be because of the legacy aspect and not any draw from what the team does on the field.

Prep football: Barron TE Heuerman visits Midwest college powerhouses seeking right fit
By ADAM FISHER

NAPLES ? Everyone wants a piece of Jeff Heuerman these days.

The Barron Collier junior is one of the most sought after tight ends among college football programs this spring. When he attends Ohio State?s spring game today in Columbus, it will end a week-long, four-school recruiting whirlwind tour that had Heuerman and his family criss-crossing the Midwest.

The journey started Tuesday when Heuerman visited the University of Michigan. He left the next day to drive to South Bend, Ind., and met with new Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly. On Thursday, Heuerman headed south to Purdue?s campus in West Lafayette, Ind.

After a six-hour visit with the Boilermakers, Heuerman and his family drove four hours west to Columbus. The Cougars standout met with the Buckeyes all day Friday and will be on the sidelines for today?s spring game.

Earlier this spring, Heuerman also visited Florida and Tennessee.

Such is the life of a 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end who has the hands of a wideout, the strength of a linebacker and the blocking skills of a lineman.

?It?s a nice experience,? Heuerman said of his courtship with the nation?s elite college football programs. ?A lot of people don?t get to do it. I?m just taking it all in right now.?

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez offered Heuerman a scholarship on Tuesday, bringing the tight end?s number of Division I offers to more than 20. Heuerman expects Notre Dame to offer a scholarship soon.

The list of schools who are after Heuerman?s services reads like a who?s who of college football. Alabama, Boston College, Georgia, Iowa, Oregon, Rutgers, Stanford, Tennessee, USC and West Virginia, to name a few.

In all, Heuerman has offers from at least 11 teams in Bowl Championship Series conferences, and the number is growing.

?They keep coming in,? Heuerman said. ?The more that come in, the harder it is (to choose). It gets harder and harder every week. Hopefully I?ll make a decision over the summer.?
