tOSU at Navy (M&T Bank Stadium), Aug 30th @ 12pm ET, CBS Sports Network

Buckeye Samurai of Big League Blitzkreig
Aug. 30 vs. Navy (at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore)
Last year: 9-4
Bowl game: Beat Middle Tennessee State, 24-6, in Armed Forces Bowl
Bottom line: The Buckeyes will have all summer to prepare for Navy's quirky triple-option offensive attack. They might need it. After all, the Midshipmen nearly pulled off a season-opening upset at Ohio Stadium in 2009. Ohio State has opened the season with a win each year since 2000. This could be the Buckeyes' toughest non-conference affair.

I am frustrated. tOSU will spend the entire month of August working on beating a team that ranked 122 (out of 123) in passing offense. And even time spent working against the run will not be worthwhile, because the triple option will not be seen again. Northwestern is not even on the schedule and won't be able to run 1 or 2 triple option plays. This is an obstacle to overcome.

The only slight good news I can find is that we have a chance to win because Navy won't pass much. Also, maybe this game and the VTech game will help recruiting in Maryland and Virginia and DC.

Tickets ordered :banger::banger::banger:. If you're planning on ordering tickets through Ticketmaster, I'd suggest making a move.....not many tickets left.

Excellent! I lived there for 5 years without them coming any closer than Morgantown and now they go to both Baltimore and College Park within 5 weeks of each other? I really need to get out there for at least one of those games.

How's the aircraft carrier parking along the Olentangy? I know that the rowing team has their shell shed there, but now sure how deep the draft's of the super carriers are. Maybe we'll have to dredge out the Olentangy to get those big boys alongside.....

Family: Navy player medically cleared after high school brain injury

william-mckamey.jpeg

Navy football player Will McKamey remains hospitalized and in coma, two days after collapsing during a spring practice session and being airlifted to a local hospital to have emergency surgery performed on his brain. It’s the second on-field incident the running back has suffered; during his high school days, he suffered a similar episode during a game.

In light of that, some have wondered what the player was even doing on a football field. In a lengthy statement released through the service academy Monday, McKamey’s family explained that the sophomore underwent extensive medical testing and that neither they nor the Naval Academy would’ve allowed him to continue his playing career if they thought he was at risk.

“Since his prior accident in 2012 Will has been seen by four different neurosurgeons, and had 4-6 CAT scans and MRI’s to rule out any issue and clear him for contact,” the statement read. “After his prior incident he went without any contact for over nine months to just be safe. We feel obviously there is more going on in his brain than we could have ever detected.

Sad stuff

I just bought my plane tickets for this game. Does anyone @MDBuckeye know if theres a train or anything that goes from BWI to downtown. Im thinking about staying at the Four Seasons or the Peabody. Also are there bars/restaurants right downtown that I can walk to, or should I get a car?

You can take the MTA Light Rail. Get on the Hunt Valley to BWI line. Get off at Hamburg St. (9th stop from BWI) That will take you right to the stadium.
