Game Thread tOSU at Wiscy, Nov 17th, 3:30 ABC

My advice would definitely be to stay as close to campus as possible. There isn't a lot to do when you start getting away from the campus area. Pregaming is easy to find. There are bars across from the stadium. State Street is walkable from the stadium and every other building on State Street is a bar. I am going to the game as well and we are staying at The Sheraton, which is a couple miles from the stadium. It's not super expensive, its an easy cab ride to campus etc, and it's in a pretty cool area right on one of the 2 big lakes there.
Fans are awful! Be prepared for the biggest group of assholes outside of State College. And good luck getting a cab at night there...it's pretty difficult.

For anyone going...you need to call the cab companies. You cannot hail them from the street.
Just another reason why the place is a dump. There are plenty of tickets on stubhub and other places for under face value...it just shows how nobody really enjoys seeing games at this place. It's a mess. My advice for Buckeye fans is go straight to the stadium, bring a flask and a DD, watch the Buckeyes roll, and get the hell out. Staying in Chicago isn't a bad idea. Drive up in the morning, and then go back in time to go out to the bars for a couple hours there.

Fwiw, b/c Madison is the only road Big 10 city I've been to so I don't have a big frame of reference, but I really enjoyed my time there, people included

A lot of people are split on the Madison experience. Some thoroughly enjoy it, while some act like they're dropping into Mogadishu.

All I know is it's hard to have a bad time eating sauerbraten and drinking boots of beer at The Essen Haus
I would also recommend Dotty Dumpling Dowry's and The Old Fashioned. The Old Fashioned is down on the capital square, so it's a bit of a walk, but if you can get in, you'll find it's well worth your time. It's strictly Wisconsin food on the menu - meaning all the food used literally comes from inside state borders.

I have been to Dotty Dumplings. Like that place. I haven't heard of The Old Fashioned, maybe I will check that place out. Thanks for the rec. Another place I liked when I was there 2 years was Nick's Bar on State St. Cool old school vibe to have some Leinenkugels
