Ohio State Recruiting: 2013 Quarterbacks

If I had to guess, I would say that every QB on the board will be competing for a roster spot at camp this summer, regardless of whether they received an early offer or not.

The players without offers will be working to earn a spot in the class... unless the players with offers commit first.

Once again, this is purely speculation on my part, but the philosophy seems to be "commit now or compete for your spot this summer."

Given Meyer's comments about competitiveness in his players (he wants kids that get fired up over a game of checkers), it wouldn't surprise me at all if that was his pitch to the 2013 QBs.

Zaire and Trubisky have the inside track right now, but Chapman, Bailey, and Barrett (along with any other QBs that are offered or camp this summer) will be gunning for those two spots.

Urban Meyer is already determining each player's competitive spirit through the recruiting process- have we mentioned how good he is at this stuff?

With the impending commitment of Eli Woodard that would give OSU 4 of the top 130 players on the Rivals 250. Other guys we have a great shot at in the Rivals 100:

Jaylon Smith
Derrick Green
Bob Foster
Mike McCray
Evan Lisle

Guys we got a good shot at in the 250:

Shelton Gibson
Tim Kimbrough
Malik Zaire
Caleb Day
Ben Gedeon

That doesn't even include some guy I don't think who will get an offer. This class is going to be EPIC.

We have got a decent shot at Ty Isaac but he's a scUM/ND lean. When he get's down here for a JR day visit wake me up. Alex Anzalone is probably gonna be a long recruitment. I think he may get left out if he wants in and waits it out. First come first served this year boys....

Also, where I come from we call Robert Foster "Bob"....

From Uriah LeMay thread:
LeMay, Marshall, Gibson and Foster would make the best WR group that tOSU has landed in a long time. LeMay would probably be the most physical out of the four, and is just a great kid to have on the team overall. Hoping for some more noise to come out of this front.

"in a long time?" I'd say that group would be the best receiver corps we've landed, ever. Two of them are sure-fire 5 stars, and and the other two are 4 stars at least. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that all the smoke coming from Foster is a) legit, and b) long lasting.

I think they have done a great job of building a relationship with Foster and I can't imagine them doing anything but keep developing that connection. I seem to have a hard time on getting a read on LeMay and some of the other WR targets, especially the more "southern" WR targets. I have been reading the updates and articles but maybe it's still too early but I tend to think that the picture will go from unclear to clear very quickly once a few more recruits pulls the picture.

Always good to keep your options open but see little reason to focus on the South this year for WRs.

Take 3-4 out of Marshall, Gibson, Bob Foster, and Treadwell and smoke a victory cigar.

You also got Caleb Day as well who is a pretty tremendous athlete that could play WR. I certainly don't wanna see that kid go OOS.
