tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Here is an analysis of the offers made by tOSU, per position for 2015:

I think the number of TEs is surprisingly low, ATL high, and ILB low. I suspect JT offered much fewer ATLs. And I "guess" that OTs can always be moved to guard.

ProQB...2
DualQB.7
APB.....1
RB.....15
WR....17
TE......2
OT....18
OG.....6
OC.....2
WDE...9
SDE....8
DT....10
ILB.....2
OLB...11
CB....14
S.......6
ATL..17
LS.....1

I'm not speaking about this situation in particular.

But we'll agree to disagree. Ohio kids have to jump through hoops OOS kids don't have to.

Nice percentage, by the way. Where'd you come up with that?

Ohio kids do not have to jump through hoops.

An offer to an OOS kid is a gesture meant to gauge mutual interest. It is next to meaningless unless the kid decides to visit campus and that is simply the first step in the recruiting process.

When an Ohio kid gets an offer it is basically the end of the recruiting process between them and Ohio State. It is something significant and special that only born and raised Buckeyes can understand.

There is a clear difference in the process, and acting like not throwing out offers across the state as early as possible is Ohio State making kids jump through hoops is the height of ignorance and absolutely feeds into Hoke's recruiting strategy in the state.

This.

There are "offers" - Hey, we're interested in you. Why don't you come visit/camp so we can further evaluate, etc.

and then there are "OFFERS" - We're ready for you to be a Buckeye/accept your commitment.

You're not going to see "offers" to in-state kids. If an in-state kid is offered, they're ready to accept his commitment. Why offer an in-state kid and then turn around and say you aren't ready to accept his commitment, which results in the not only the kid being 'offended', but the high school staff as well. They aren't going to jeopardize those relationships in-state. You'll see plenty of "offers" to out-of-state kids, as you probably won't get them on campus without one. Only a small percentage of OOS kids have true "OFFERS".

The in-state kids aren't being slow played....especially in March.
