tOSU Recruiting Discussion

The thing with JG is that even though he is the guy I (and the staff) want the most, the degree of separation between JG ad Haskins is nearly zero. In fact, many like Haskins better...if you want a sure thing, I think Haskins falls into that category though JG has a higher ceiling. I go back and forth on which one I want all the time, so I will be thrilled if we land either. Even beyond those two, Jawon Pass is pretty much right there for me too. Now if we get past that group, then I would be disappointed. Otherwise it is like debating over Cardale/JT/Braxton at QB...it is fun, but you are set either way.

They singled out Torrance Gibson and Joe Burrow...and got who they want. I will sleep easy whether JG wants to be a Buckeye or not.

They also singled out deshaun watson in 2014... And they didn't get who they wanted... It differs per year. But that's my point OSU will be fine with or without him. As long as the O line recruiting remains elite

Don't know that I like Haskins better, but Haskins's release is about the quickest I've ever seen. Very impressive. Guarantano is also quite impressive, but his dad's Rutgers heritage may be too much to overcome, all things considered (and I can respect that).

I read the article and enjoyed it, but not totally sure the connecion to 2016 and recruiting. Are you suggesting, by the article, that 2016 DB's are needed? Or that the team scheme allows for fast and aggressive play? I'm guessing you were meaning to post this in the team thread not the recruiting thread. But, while reading this I did think how important the recruitment of Vonn Bell was. His goal line interception late in the Bama game seals the deal for OSU when our first battle with Saben was for Vonn's signature and keep him away from Bama. Where was Bama most exploitable? Arguably the answer was in their secondary, exactly where Bell would have helped them. Just an example of why recruiting matters.

His dad was a former Rutgers player before our 2nd and 3rd string QBs went nuts, and before we took 2 in this last class, when Guarantano was considered a lock.

I get Birm's logic. Multiple visits to Rutgers like that would lead you believe he is getting close to pulling the trigger. Other staffs have pointed out OSU's QB depth to Jarrett...as the should. But giving Meyer another chance face to face means the odds could swing back in OSU's favor, considering Jarrett is their #1 target at QB for the '16 cycle.
