tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Not really a prediction, but more of an "update"....

WR- It's obvious they want to add another name here..... I'll go with Victor. Visited in June & has two visits planned for July...Florida is the main competition, but this one seems to be trending in the right direction.

TE- Farrell. Think he ends up a Buckeye.

OL- Two new offers out in June...seems like they may want to add another here (interior) with the departure of Marcelys Jones & Mirko Jurkovic.

DT- Need to get Antwuan Jackson back on campus...Auburn the likely leader there. No chance on Gary. If they miss on Jackson, Kyree Campbell would likely be the name to watch.

DE- Bosa is in...just a matter of time.

LB- Hansford is a possibility, but numbers might push him out.

DB- Wayne Davis (was looking good here, but he has yet to visit...), Patrice Rene (some question if he's a take at this point), Jared Mayden (announcing soon...don't think it's OSU), Trayvon Mullen (not likely, but keep getting him on campus), Damar Hamlin (probably the most likely to end up in the class, but Pittsburgh kids are always a tough pull), Jaylon Jones (Was supposed to announce at The Opening pre-OSU visit, but delayed that after visit), Andrew Pryts (PSU people losing confidence here...good sign for OSU), Jordan Fuller (need to get him back on campus).

All that being said, it's "only" July and we still have the biggest camp of the year to look forward to. Names will come and go...

and it seems like each year there has been a couple last minute surprise commitments right before or on LOI day.

With Hausmann and Hawkins already in the fold, do you guys think that we'll take Farrell as well, or more importantly, do you think Farrell will still be interested in us?
I've been thinking the same thing. Its not like OSU still really uses the TE enough to get 3 in one class. Bug Hawkins can also play DE

Yes.

Farrell is a true TE in the mold of Vannett. In fact, I always laugh when I see the picture of them side by side- they are exactly the same size and frame.

Hausmann is a flex guy and more of a route runner in the mold of Heuerman (and possibly Baugh if he earns playing time this year).

Hawkins is even further off the line and will be used similar to Noah Brown, in my opinion.

Similar to the coaches making direct comparisons to current players with the three RB prospects (Walker = Elliot, Hill = Marshall, McCall = Wilson), the staff can keep everyone happy and on board despite them being listed as the same position.

Only way he doesn't end up in this class imo is if he chooses to go to ND, which I highly doubt will happen. He definitely has a spot and as mentioned, he really is a Vannett clone and I will always take that. I like taking both, especially after we saw how effective the 2 TE set was last year.

It's always good to want, no? Here's how I want to finish:
DT: take first two and don't look back
Campbell
Jackson
Lawerence
Gary

DE:
Bosa

WR:
NCM or nothing given the pipeline for '17

TE:
Farrell

DB:
Pryts
Winfield Jr.

And a NLOID surprise or two...
