Ohio State football: Meet T.J. Vasher, J.T. Barrett's former teammate who has heard from the Buckeyes

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- The first thing T.J. Vasher of Wichita Falls Rider High did when he heard from Ohio State was call his former teammate.

When J.T. Barrett heard the news that Vasher was a rising prospect on Ohio State's recruiting board, he laughed.

"It was great," Vasher told cleveland.com. "He said when they told him they had been talking about me, he said, 'What?' He was surprised because (Ohio State) is coming back to Rider."

Barrett, the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes for the entire season before he broke his ankle in the Michigan game, still keeps in touch with Vasher despite being two years removed from his high school days.

It's understandable that Ohio State would get in touch with Vasher, it's smart recruiting. Former offensive coordinator Tom Herman landed Barrett, so he stuck around the same hallways to recruit the 6-foot-5, 170-pound Vasher.
