Urban Cleveland radio interview- 11 27 12
The coach of the year award isn't about who the best coach is. It has turned into which coach had the most surprising year.
It is never surprising when Ohio State does well, therefore no award.
In the last 20 years Ohio State and Michiagn coach's have won it one time (Hoke last year). Northwestern and Iowa coach's have won it six. And the ONLY reason Hoke won it was because Michigan had been SOOOO bad the past few years, that winning 10 games was a surprise.
Ohio State is always projected to do well. Urban Meyer is the best coach in the country. No matter what Ohio State's record, Urban Meyer is the best coach in the country. To win this award you have to have a season where you coach above your average. It's like there is a handicap.
The best comparison I can think of is bowling. Urban Meyer's average is like 270...a 270 bowler gets no handicap. But O'Brien with crap Penn State is like an 80 bowler, who just bowled a 210 game...you add in the handicap and he scores over 300. Therefore even Meyer just bowled a 300, he doesn't get a handicap, so he loses.
There are only two B1G teams who haven't had a coach win this award in the last 30 years. Ohio State and Nebraska. How about a Vbet that a coach from Maryland or Rutgers wins the award before an Ohio State coach?
Article I randomly stumbled across when clicking around on Yahoo, it lists a number of coaches and some unique perks in their contracts. I can't imagine the grocery stores fighting to get the rights to Hoke.
Kristin Pantoni and Vrabel's wife jumped.
Best news I've heard all day!!! Great to hear the coaches' families take part in the rivalry!
Why would the rival coaches vote for UM? Look at what he just did for the average salary of the position coaches and coordinators.
Schools will either step up or step out. These additions to the conference have many layers of reason beyond simply saying 'money'.
Adam Rittenberg came to the same conclusion.
Why Meyer may never win top coach honor
Cynical as hell.
And absolutely correct.
Another day, another article trashing Meyer's tenure at Florida.
One word: getoverit.
It's been almost 2 years. Good God. You're embarrassing yourselves.
Jen (Vrabel) is an Ohio State alum.
They fight for exclusive rights for Hoke to shop in. They bid on that.
"I'm a much better human being from being around them"
a.k.a...the Tebow effect.
