I thought I saw in another thread that we "missed out" on Peterson, now at OU. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about it. Did we have a legitimate shot at him, was he even interested in us? With all the RBs out there it should seem like OSU could land an instant impact back. If we landed an instant impact back last year we would have had a legitimate shot at the NC last year (not sure if we would have beaten scUM, that was on the D) and hell you can go ahead and paint the end zones this year. This is OSU, I would just think that we could get a top 5 RB any year we want.

I could be wrong, but I don't think we had much of a shot at him

We WANTa top 5 RB every year, but haven't had a top 30 RB since MC (although Pittman at 31 was greatly underrated).

Peterson gave us an early mention, but never a serious look. This could be the guy that makes a run at tying Archie for two Heisman's.

As much as you guys might not believe this....Peterson, came VERY VERY close to changing his committment to SC on signing day. He wanted to come to SC, but family held him back.

Wells is looking good so far..I really want him to come to SC, but I think OSU is going to be tough to beat.

OSUBasketballJunkie Meyer is back. Deal with it Florida.

Of all the positions we have a need at that impact your season, I think the running back is the most important if you are a running team like OSU, we need a top 5-10 back this year......

I know this isn't the recruiting board...but I think Stewart would be a perfect back for you guys.

i think that in alot of ways affected the recruiting of a running back....im sure alot of the kids were thinking that they dont want to sit two years behind a player that is already the focus of the offense as a freshman....

this is the year that will tell....

Nice point. I would really like for us to land the top back this coming year... someone to help out for our loaded team in 2005  .

Does Peterson's running style remind anyone else of Eddie? He has those long strides and his body is always very vertical when he runs.

Me too. He's #1 on my board, hopefully, Tressel's too.
  14. I think this is right. There was some talk about him trying to use the MoC ruling to go pro out of high school before it got overturned.

Since he did not redshirt, they might get 3 years out of him and that might be enough to get 2 heismans. But unlikely

Agreed. I think he's going to be just like Clarett would've been had Clarett stayed, and that is a great freshman season to catch everyone's attention and be a serious contender for the Heisman in his sophomore season. In his sophomore season, he gets the stats to warrant selection but gets edged out by a senior (the Keith Jackson "it's a career award" syndrome). He then blows everyone away in his junior year to win the Heisman and foregos his senior year to go pro and ends up the #1 pick. That's what would've happened for Clarett had he stayed.
