Adrian Peterson (official thread)

Peterson cut classes, BFD.
Bomar was caught drinking underage. Where is his suspension?
Can't have two of your offensive skill players out at once?

Eventually the schools will take these decisions away from the coaches.

I don't have a problem with them dealing with Peterson's missed classes without costing him game time. They have a policy for that, and he hasn't missed enough classes to cost himself game time yet.

Bomar, on the other hand, would have missed a game if it were my decision.

But, dadgum it, it's not.

What completely spineless claptrap. He'll serve his time until he's needed. He is teaching AP nothing with this wishy-washy stance.

Makes me more glad we have Tressel running the show in Columbus. To think some were calling for Bob Stoops to be savior when Coop was thrown to the curb.

This is a bunch of bullshit! Troy Smith misses 1 day of classes that were full of speeches and study table for an upcomming test to go help out a kids camp for free- its a national frenzy on OSU. We put Smiths ass on punishment even in the offseason! Peterson was a Heisman candidate who missed 2 full days of school and classes, yet you still have to think about whether or not youshould bench him?! This is a bunch of crap.

Smith and AP did the same thing. Keeping him out of practice is the same thing that JT did to TS. The underage drinking shit should've warranted a suspension of some sort, but I don't believe that AP skipping class should, unless it becomes habitual.

But TS had a reason to be out of his classes. He was at a kids camp, and it wasnt during the season. If it was during the season, Im sure Tressel would had without a doubt, held him out of a game. There are different circumstances now that Oklahomas season is underway with a loss under their belt and struggling with AP. You can tell they fear holding out their only playmaker so they can keep a budya this weekend.

I wonder what Alan Iverson thinks about the suspension...........
"I don't think you understand. We're talking about practice. Practice! Practice, man, Practice! I know what you're saying, but we're talking about practice."

I know this is kind of off topic, but Does anybody think Peterson is a bit overrated?

Maroney ran for more yards than Peterson did on Tulsa. I think Maroney is overrated also since he can't move the chains if his life depended on it, but Peterson after seeing him in the OB did not look all world.

He's a big back with speed, but what I noticed, especially in the OB is that he doesn't run with any power, and doesn't have the greatest balance. He was getting arm tackled by safeties against USC. Anybody else agree with me? Or am I just delusional for not having seen him play enough outside some highlights and the Bowl game.

I am still trying to figure this one out. Are you saying he convert on 3rd and short or what.

By the way Maroney is by far the best back in the big ten. I don't think he is overrated. For that matter neither is Peterson. It is hard to run behind a rebuilt o-line and 8-9 guys in the box.

As for Peterson's suspension I think it is bullshit if he only plays if they are losing. Get some balls Stoops.

Did you happen to see his TD run this Saturday? If that's not an amazing blend of power and balance...
Yeah, lol, that was a pretty beastly run...But I cant really tell if hes a lil overhyped or if his team just sucks. Your pass can easily generate the option to run, and this year they have a new QB and hes struggling to fill the big shoes Jason White left the team. We will be able to tell how productive of a back he can be with the weight of the Sooner team on his back mid way through conference play.

Seems that Wisconsins Calhoun is give Maroney a run for his money in this department. Moaroney has rushed for 343 yards, Calhoun for 307. Calhoun has caught 2 passes for 59 yards and Maroney hasnt caught any. Maroney has 4 TDs total, Calhoun has 6.

Wait till Calhoun hits conference play, Maroney numbers will still be high while Calhouns numbers will drop.

Wow. There's no need for Nebraska/Lawrence Phillips, Bobby Bowden/Ernie Sims, Bob Stoops/Adrian Peterson/Rhett Bomar shit in college football. It's spineless and disrepectful to the game. Every mother knows that if there is no consequence for a bad action, they'll just keep on doing it.

Maybe the NCAA should start mandating penalties for certain offenses. Sick of the "aww shucks, he'll just run some more sprints instead" southern BS.

You have a nice crystal ball there guy, lol. I can really see Calhouns numbers dropping due to him sharing the carries with Stanley (who has about 130 yards and averages more a carry). But Maroney seems to be splitting carries Russell and Pinnix. No doubt that Maroney has gotten more publicity and is a Heisman darkhourse. Hes a great back and could very well be the best in the Big Ten, I was merely pointing out that others are getting pretty good numbers in their games as well. I guess we can only wait till Big Ten play to find out though....
