Had to go with 2002. Team just refused to lose.

A team I think might not get the consideration it may deserve is the 2012 team. I'm not saying they are a top 5 in terms of "The Greatest", but maybe a top 10. I certainly feel like they are a top 3 candidate for most important team of all time.

Yes. Yes, I could have; however, I'm not a skilled searcher of the BP engine yet.

Edit: I hadn't realized that you had already broken the teams down by rating. Therefore, if you want to remove these posts from this thread, then please feel free.
Over the past week, I've been rating the top ten Buckeye teams with a write up on each. Here are links to nos. 4-10:

#10: 1996 & 1998 Buckeyes
#09: 1961 Buckeyes
#08: 1957 Buckeyes
#07: 1942 Buckeyes
#06: 1944 Buckeyes
#05: 1973 Buckeyes
#04: 1954 Buckeyes

I will post the top three (1968, 2002, 2014, not necessarily in that order) later this week.

My opinion? It comes down to 1968 and 2014 as the two teams with the most talent as compared to the rest of the teams they played.

I'm not sure about an after-life, but if there is one I'm hoping it has a Field of Dreams quality to it, one where I can grab a seat on the 50 and watch these great Buckeye teams perform. I'll start with Chic Harley and see if Thurber's description is apt: "If you never saw him run with a football, I can't describe it to you. It wasn't like Red Grange or Tom Harmon or anybody else. It was kind of a cross between music and cannon fire, and it brought your heart up under your ears."

My favorites? 1954 - don't know how my sister pulled it off, but she got two tickets for the Michigan game up in C deck for Dad and Me. We were just about even with the 20 on the press box side of the field and watched the amazing goal line stand that kept Michigan from taking the lead. It was my fifth OSU game and my first Michigan game. I came home and promptly taught my 11 year-old buddies the We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan song.

1961 - Three QBs - Murkowski, Mummey and Sparma - Ferguson, Warfield, to run, Iron Ike Kelly, Sam Tidmore and Bill Spahr on defense and me a mere freshman, Thumping Michigan 50 to 20 in Ann Arbor. WBNS playing a tape of all the games starting after the 11 o' clock news.

2014 had a lot of talent.

2002 - most of the 2-deep played in the NFL.

1968 - again a lot of talent.

1968 and 2014 seemed to maximize those talents ( especially towards the end of the year ) whereas sometimes the 2002 team was just figuring out just how much talent it had and how best to use it.

For my money, the talent in 2002, was stronger than any, based upon the talent of the day, and while they often struggled to max it, they had the heart and unity that wouldn't be denied. I vote 2002.
