Ohio State football | NFL draft: Braxton Miller: "It's a lovely feeling" to be drafted by Texans
Leave it to Braxton Miller to have one of the more elegant quotes of the 2016 NFL draft thus far.
The Ohio State quarterback-turned-receiver was picked by the Houston Texans two-thirds of the way through the third round late Friday night. It might have been just a blip on the screen as far as most people were concerned, but for Miller it was verification that he does have a future in the game.
“I’m very thankful, (because) the place I wanted to be at? I’m here,” Miller said on a conference call of being drafted by an NFL team. “So it’s a lovely feeling.”
The Chicago Tribune Silver Football award winner (Big Ten MVP) in 2012 and 2013 as a sophomore and junior, he gave up playing quarterback after two major right shoulder injuries and the rehab from the subsequent surgeries caused him to miss the 2014 national championship season. And anyone could see that Miller, though a gifted athlete, was still a work in progress after making the switch to receiver last season.
But the Texans are led by coach Bill O’Brien, formerly the coach at Penn State. He saw the Miller-quarterbacked Buckeyes beat his Nittany Lions twice, in particular Miller clinching the win at Beaver Stadium in 2012 with dazzling, leaping touchdown run. He has seen close up Miller’s quickness and elusiveness with the ball in his hands.
“He’s a really good teammate, he’s an excellent athlete, he’s got very good instincts,” O’Brien said. “We went to Ohio State (in the past month) and spent a day with him, and felt like he was a guy who would really fit in well with us and what we’re trying to do here. So we’re excited to get him in here.”
Miller also likes the fit.
“Me and coach O’Brien, we’ve got a couple of history moments together when he was at Penn State,” he said, chuckling, adding that another familiar face on the Texans staff is Mike Vrabel, former Ohio State player and defensive line coach. Houston is “a lovely place to be, too, and they need offensive playmakers like me. That’s one place I really looked at and I really wanted to go to.”

I could watch this video over and over again. What I didnt realize when I seen it before is he makes a guy miss in the backfield prior to absolutely shocking that other guy on his way to the endzone. Amazing.

WHAT NFL TEAMS ARE SAYING ABOUT OHIO STATE'S NON-FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS FOLLOWING MINICAMP
Last week, we took a trip around the NFL circuit to see what teams were saying about Ohio State's five first-round draft picks following the conclusion of league minicamps. The results, as expected, were fairly positive as each player figures to make an impact as a rookie.
But, as you're well-aware, the 2016 NFL Draft was a historic night for the Buckeyes as they had seven additional players selected after the first round. There's a strong chance some of those picks are high-impact rookies, as well.
Here are some things NFL teams are saying about the former Ohio State players they recently selected in the NFL Draft:

“This offense is not an offense that you can just come off the street and learn," All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins said recently, via the Houston Chronicle. "You have to put in a lot of work. I have to give credit to the offensive staff and the staff in general for drafting guys that have high football IQs that can come in and learn this offense at such a fast pace. Just basically stay after it."

Breakfast: Braxton Miller is "just a playmaker"
“I think Braxton is coming along great,” [Texan wide receivers coach Sean] Ryan said. “Another good inside and outside guy. Great skill set, change of direction, catching the ball well. I’ve been really happy with him.”
In the radio interview with Tom Pelissero and Bill Polian, Miller was asked about his ability to deal with press coverage playing on the outside as a receiver. He said he’s definitely made progress.
“I’ve adapted pretty well,” Miller said. “That was one of the main things coming out. That’s why I wanted to go to the Senior Bowl, basically. The whole time at the Senior Bowl, I was playing outside and I was going against the better DBs in the country. I had to come out there and really prepare myself to be ready for big competition and playing outside receiver. I adjusted really well. Right now I’m just out there having fun with it. I’m still learning the techniques and everything, but still being the playmaker and being myself.”
