Michael Thomas is an excellent blocker, has good hands as a possession receiver, runs clean routes, and is large and still very fast. Devin Smith catches deep balls. He also had 2-3 drops Saturday. Devin is still going to get A LOT of play but the move of Thomas to the number 1 is pretty important for the offense.

I think that is semantics, Devin had his best game as a Buckeye against UC. He will play every bit as much as Thomas and Spencer...although I agree with Smith and Thomas being our real receiving threats...Spencer is an extra tackle that happens to block on the outside (although I was happy to see him score last week).

It's not that simple--Urban's offense is dependent on having WRs who can block. And Spencer is excellent at that.
