WR Evan Spencer (BIG Champion, National Champion)

Don't. Like. "Wipe the field?????" Just because fans or media disrespect your team doesn't give you the right to disrespect other teams. Leave that for the fans and media. I would have much rather heard him say "I think that we would compete well" or "I like our chances with them." "Wipe the field" comments are inappropriate imho.
Unfortunately Evan won't be allowed near a mic for the rest of the year, if not his csreer at osu, lol
But thanks for voicing what many ofn us already thought

Who. Cares. This guy has worked a hell of a lot harder towards the national championship goal than any of us have (obviously) - he's on a team that's 21-0 and getting zero respect. I really doubt he gives a pumpkin if it doesn't play well in Bumpumpkin, Alabama or with any of the sports mediots.

Evan is the first player to say it but everyone on the team is thinking the same thing. Everyone complains about our schedule and I bet our team would rather it be tougher as well. When you are good (and getting better every week) you want to face the best. I fully expect them to put on some serious beat downs from here on out....including Sparty. Whoever plays us in our bowl game better bring their lunch and specifically, their D better be ready. I think we will have our hands full with the passing attack of the elite teams, yet I like our D Line to bring pressure and disrupt it. What Evan knows to be true though is this: it really doesn't matter who we play, they have not faced an O Line like ours, a team as balanced as ours, or a beast like El Guapo. No way you can tell me that FSU, Bama, Stanford, Oregon or Baylor have faced an offense like ours. Not even close.

I don't disagree with a word you said here sir
Except for the fact that my Saturday beer consumption in my osu jersey shows I've worked and trained every bit as hard as Evan
:biggrin2:

Perhaps. You. Should. Reread. My. Post. It's not the media or fans I'm talking about. Its the players and coaches on the other teams, who to my knowledge have shown no disrespect to Spencer or tOSU. That is the issue. There is no reason to show disrespect to the other schools mentioned. And it's always RIGHT to show CLASS and to take the high road. BTW - I. Care.

I did read your post. I don't care, Spencer is right. And yes, there are players and coaches who have expressed extreme disrespect for Ohio State, it's just that certain national media outlets don't make it front page news when they say it.

The players and coaches who haven't understand exactly what he's saying and they would express the same sentiments if the situations were reversed.

Saying you'd beat another team is low class and wrong? It's disrespectful? It's football. Grow a pair or get out the locker room.

I don't see it as disrespect. He isn't saying that Bama or FSU isn't any good; he is simply saying that he is supremely confident in his team's ability. I may have worded it different, but he is the one busting his ass day in and day out on the practice field. If he genuinely feels that the team can back it up, then so be it.

I don't really subscribe to the bulletin board material ideology either. If you need bulletin board material from the other team to motivate your team in a BCSNCG, then there are deeper issues with your team.

Makes me think of what that Oregon player said about scoring "40 points" against Stanford. It may have been taken out of context, but that's what the media does, they take something innocuous and they change it to something vile. Same situation with Evan Spencer.

And it sucks, because coaches now tell their players to give very generic answers to reporters that makes the interview bland and boring. Spencer gave out his honest opinion when he should have kept his mouth shut.

I saw the question and answer wrt the kid from Oregon. He wasn't being a dick, but it wasn't out of context.

Urban wants a team full of guys who would choke you over a game of checkers. Those type of dudes don't mince words or beat around the bush. I'm sure Urban knows this.

Except we aren't guaranteed to play either team. If he said it regarding a team on our schedule & it gave them that extra motivation, then I may not be happy about it. Could he have used different words to describe his feelings? Sure....but he didn't & I like the confidence.

Evan Spencer ‏@LiLSpencee
I did not mean to disrespect any FB team today. I am confident in my team, and as is evident in the video, I was having fun ......with the media answering their questions. I should have chosen my words more wisely. There was no intent to disrespect any other team.
