By Allen Trieu
Posted Feb 5, 2010

Purdue & Notre Dame have offered... Spencer is busy with indoor track & trying to squeeze in junior day visits... He & Davaris Daniels are not a package deal but it would be great if they end up at the same school... Spencer is being recruited for WR and DB but prefers WR... OSU is not a lock just because both of his parents are alums... No leaders or timeframe yet...

Rivals $ - Spencer lights it up

This clip shows how physical Spencer is... A lot of motion toss and end around plays where you can see his burst & how he handles traffic... Not elite speed but really good & he'll fight for the ball when it's in the air... I'd like to see some clips on D as I think he has the hips & demeanor to play CB...

Speedy Spencer tracks success for VH
April 27, 2010
By AYLOR BECHTOLD [email protected]

BOYS TRACK -- Speedy Evan Spencer proved mighty tough to catch on the football field last fall.

Now, the standout wide receiver/running back is imposing a similar effect on the Cougars' opposition -- on the track.

And it was certainly a familiar scene when the sensational junior broke away from the competition and scored for Vernon Hills High School on a brisk Friday night.

Only this time around, Spencer scored in the 200-meter dash, winning in 22.96 -- close to the state-qualifying standard -- at the tough Highland Park Twilight Invite.

Spencer also teamed with classmates Mac Morehead, Marcus Bradford and Adnan Meskic to place fourth in the 400-meter relay (46.16). He added a fourth-place finish in the 100 (11.49) at an invitational loaded with talented sprinters.

"(Spencer) did a nice job at a real good sprint meet," said Vernon Hills coach Jeff Morello. "There was just some real good competition for him there."

Receiver prospect Evan Spencer of Vernon Hills, Ill., told the Chicago Sun-Times that he is keeping an "open mind" during the recruiting process, even though his father, Tim, was an Ohio State star and later a Buckeyes assistant coach. He's now the running backs coach for the Chicago Bears. Evan has offers from OSU, Illinois, Notre Dame, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin and Nebraska, among others.

"When I was little, Ohio State was my dream school," Spencer told the paper after returning from a visit to Columbus last weekend. "'I lived in Columbus for 10 years. Once I got to Chicago, we were still big Ohio State fans. But now I'm neutral. My dad advised me to keep an open mind, not to let where he has been or where my mother (also an Ohio State graduate) has been make the decision for me."

Spencer has 4.43-second speed in the 40-yard dash and is considered one of the Chicago area's top 10 football recruits in the 2011 class.
