Jalin Marshall says he suffered a separated shoulder in the Under Armour game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

CINCINNATI ?

While practicing in one part of Florida for the Under Armour All-American high school football game, Middletown standout Jalin Marshall was wondering how things were going in another part of the state.

Marshall, who started at wide receiver for team Nitro in last weekend?s game, was getting constant updates on how the Middie basketball team was faring in the Rock Holiday tournament at Coconut Creek, Fla.

?(Teammates) were calling me every night,? Marshall said after returning from Florida. ?They stayed in touch with me and kept me up to date with how things were going.?

Middletown, without Marshall?s 16.3 points per game and tenacious defense, claimed the holiday title to start a four-game winning streak that ended 74-48 Tuesday night at Princeton with Marshall not playing.

Marshall says he suffered a separated shoulder in the Under Armour game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

?We hope to have him back soon,? Middletown coach Josh Andrews said.

Marshall, who rushed for 1,421 yards and threw for 765 as the Middies quarterback last season, was listed as an ?athlete? for the all-star game. He started at receiver and also saw some time on special teams, recording a tackle following a punt in the third quarter.

?Football is football to me,? said Marshall, who had a 44-yard second-quarter reception to highlight Nitro?s 16-3 loss. ?Wherever they line me up I am going to play, but it was different for me.?

In its sixth year, the Under Armour game has produced 18 NFL players. This year four of the top 10 in the Heisman voting had played in previous games. Team Highlight, the winning team, was coached by former NFL coach Herm Edwards. Marshall was coached by former 49ers and Lions head coach Steve Mariucci.

?It was different from my practices back home,? Marshall said. ?Ours were three hours of hard work to build for Friday; it was more constructive on how to do things down there. Come game time, they expected you to do the things you were supposed to do.?

While at the game, Marshall got a chance to bond with some of his future teammates at The Ohio State University and got to see one of the nation?s top linebackers ? Tre Johnson from Georgia ? commit to the Buckeyes.

Though he enjoyed that, he was looking forward to getting back to the Middies.

?I got a chance to bond with my future teammates,? Marshall said. ?But, I don?t want to let go of my current teammates yet. I want to enjoy this (senior year) the entire time I have left.?

The guy I think just missed five-star status who will be an absolute star in college? Ohio State commitment Jalin Marshall. In Urban Meyer's offense, this kid could have a special season.

This is the kid I am most excited to see from this class. I love some of the other players we've got coming in, but this kids just pops off the screen for me. I think he is going to leave Columbus with quite the legacy.

Studs playing alongside similar talent that literally stretch the other team to defend every square inch of turf helps too. If I was Jalin I would be absolutely jacked when looking at the fellow playmakers in this class and pulling hard for Wilson and Clark to commit. Plus nothing will ever take the place of one or more NC rings. The players in this class have a great opportunity in front of them.

I still can't believe how big hes gotten since his season ended. Hes much bigger than what people think of for slot players and return men. as long as he keeps his speed and juke moves, hes going to be a star here.
