Actually, Smith did practice with the ones in the spring and in 7 on 7's in the summer. He had snaps in fall camp with the ones, not a lot, but he had some.

Can anyone explain what this exchange was about? It reads as if he's saying Smith is 4th on the depth chart because of performance, not because of suspension, which does not make sense.

I wasn't disagreeing AKAK, but I do recall Geiger stating Mo's suspension would probably have been only 2 or 3 games if he had been truthful. I agree with you that it sounds as if Troy's "indescretion" was probably relatively minor and a one time thing.

The reason MoC got six games, and ultimately the entire season, had more to do with the fact he lied to the NCAA than it did with the benefits he received. Fortunately for him, Troy at least knew enough to fess up when confronted and didn't try to cover up as Mo did.

For what it's worth..... A poster on the BN premium board claims to have inside info that Troy gave his game jersey to a booster who sold it and kicked the money back to him. Don't know if he's credible, he hasn't posted much, but of all the theories I've heard so far, it seems the most plausible.
