Malcolm Jenkins made a pretty huge impact at corner as a true freshman, I think if Conley and Lattimore leave, there's no reason to think Wade can't potentially make a big impact and get a lot of playing time. We had 4 corners who had a lot of playing time this year in Conley, Lattimore, Ward...
I wouldn't say Burrell "didn't pan out" just because he got beat out by a true freshman as a redshirt freshman. He's only a year ahead of Jordan. He might be our starting right guard next season, who knows?
Browning seems like a WILL or MIKE to me, ala Josh Perry. We use those 'tweeners like Darron Lee and Chris Worley at SAM. Guys who are big safeties that can play walkout linebacker and blitz, Keandre Jones and Brendon White seem destined for that spot.
Isn't Browning a MIKE here too though, or are they recruiting him to play WILL? I suppose he could play all three spots but given our need in the middle and his talent I assumed that's where he'd get the fastest tracks o playing time. Werner seems like a MIKE all the way.
Yeah, I don't see Jones filling the MIKE spot, or either Baker or Worley sliding inside either to make room for Jones. It has to be Booker (who was supposed to be the starting WILL this year anyway) or a guy like Nick Conner (who is a true MIKE) if he has a great spring. But my money's on Booker.
I thought Prince stepped up at the end of the Game after getting beat by Charlton badly the whole afternoon. When they needed it most. I'm hoping he develops into a top notch pass protector next year throughout the season. He has the tools.
Yeah, not many people talk about Cupp or Gerald but I have a feeling they are gonna be some nasty good guards for us before long. I suspect Price slides over to center in 2017 but after him it should be Wohlabaugh's time to shine. Seems like we always have a good center here, and the future...
Well to a degree but you still have to be able to tackle and hit like a safety even if you're for all intents and purposes a glorified slot corner. Especially in the B1G. Bell was pretty well rounded. His range was so impressive .
Is Arnette a safety yet? I know Coombs or whoever said he was definitely starting out at cornerback last year but injuries kept him from seeing much practice time early in the fall. I know Eric Glover-Williams was moved to safety when Erick Smith got hurt. I think he could stick and play Vonn...
Yeah, I'm not saying he won't be good, I'm just thinking he's not gonna get drafted as high as he thinks probably. But idk for sure, bigger corners are in demand and if he runs well he could be a 2nd round pick I think.
What if he gets like a 4th round grade though? i think that's more realistic. Or 3rd round grade. Idk, it depends really if he's a 4.45 guy or a 4.5-4.6 guy. NFL doesn't draft CBs high that run below 4.5.
I don't think Eli has the speed to get drafted high as a corner in the NFL. Leave early and be a mid round pick at best or stay another year, graduate, get more experience and get drafted roughly the same spot.
With Miller at H-Back I wonder what they're gonna do with marshall to get them both on the field. Move him to Z and split time with Noah Brown in 2/3 WR sets or split time at H-Back with Miller? Or all of the above? So many playmakers to get onto the field and only one ball.
Random question. Does anyone know who is working as the second team Right Tackle? I Know Jamarco Jones is probably the first OT off the bench, but I was wondering how the freshmen were doing.
It wasn't 1 in 4. 90 plays, but on several of those it was incomplete or the guy went out of bounds or scored a touchdown without a missed tackle. And 18% is closer to 1 in 5 not 1 in 4 :p
But yeah, we need to not miss tackles. The worst are when the guy hits a guy instead of wrapping up. Cal's...
You're right, there is McLaurin too. I guess I was just thinking about guys we could put in that hybrid spot (though I guess McLaurin and Clark both will probably play receiver instead of the slot/hybrid spot). Lots of speed. I hear Lonnie Johnson ain't a slouch either in terms of speed.
