tOSU has had some good success recruiting Florida and this year is shaping up to continue that trend

current commitments
Joe Bauserman QB Ht: 6-2 Wt: 215 40: 4.7 Lincoln HS
(Tallahassee, FL) ('05) Comments: Will grayshirt and be part of the '05 class if he does not get drafted high in the baseball draft in '04

DaJuan Morgan DB/WR Ht: 6-2 Wt: 185 40: 4.4 Suncoast HS (Riviera Beach, FL) Comments: Suffered a hip injury in a car accident causing him to miss his senior '03 season- was considered a Florida lean until he committed to the Bucks

Prospects that are listing us in their favorites

Xavier Lee QB Ht: 6-3 Wt: 210 40: 4.59 Seabreeze Senior HS(Daytona Beach, FL) Considered a Fla St. Lean, his childhood dream school- Fla St. has already received a commitment from an elite 11 QB- Drew Weatherford and another is seriously considering them- Cornelius Ingram- My prediction is Ingram goes to Florida and Lee goes to FSU

Gartrell Shavers RB Ht: 6-0 Wt: 210 40: 4.5 Miami Springs HS(Miami Springs, FL) - a new name but a leading rusher in S. Florida-plans on visiting tOSU

Dennis Kennedy RB/DB Ht: 5-11 Wt: 180 (Stranahan HS)
Fort Lauderdale, FL- versatile player who can play offense and defense- visited for the Purdue game and is very high on tOSU- we have to be considered the favorites

Albert Dukes WR Ht: 6-0.5 Wt: 184 40: 4.51 Glades Central HS(Belle Glade, FL) - considered by many the 2nd best senior receiver in Flordia this year (to Xavier Carter)- he goes to the same school as Santonio Holmes- HH feels he may want to stay close to home and he also is strongly considering NCST where a former teammate and friend goes- I don't believe he comes to tOSU

Kelvin Chandler WR Ht: 6-2 Wt: 171 40: 4.5 Dillard HS
(Fort Lauderdale, FL) - he has a minimal chance for an offer- he goes to the same school as Chris Gamble and Thomas Matthews- Matthews father is coach there- probably ends up at Pitt

Jacky Claude OL HT: 6-4 WT: 300 40: 5.20 (Miami Edison Senior HS) Miami, FL- one of our better chances for an OOS Olineman and with the recent input from HH it looks like we are the team to beat- he has visited a number of times including the Purdue game

Drew Miller OL Ht: 6-6 Wt: 305 40: 5.2 Sarasota (FL)
Riverview- very little chance- probably is a UM/Gator battle

Chris Rutledge OL Ht: 6-6 Wt: 270 40: 4.9 Miami (FL)
Krop- HH feels we have a great chance with this kid- he visited for the MSU game- could he be our fall back guy if the big names fall through??

Marc Dile OL Ht: 6-4 Wt: 275 40: 5.0 Miami (FL)
Edison- he goes to the same school as Claude- but probably will not garner an offer- Claude has said he wants to go to the same school as Dile and Clebert- HH believes Claude will do what is best for himself and Dile probably ends up at a lower level school

Aaron Jones DL Ht: 6-3 Wt: 272 40: 4.8 Edgewater HS
(Orlando, FL) -looks like another scUM2/FSU battle

Emmanuel Dunbar DL Ht: 6-5 Wt: 265 40: 4.75 Deerfield Beach HS(Deerfield Beach, FL)- he has been quiet but it looks like we are either not pursuing too hard or he likes others over us- we have moved down his favorites list

Joe Joseph DL Ht: 6-3 Wt: 267 40: 5.31 Oak Ridge HS
(Orlando, FL) - looks like a Gator

Pat Sims DL Ht: 6-4 Wt: 280 Dillard HS (Fort Lauderdale, FL)- looks like Auburn with his buddy McClover

Dumaka Atkins DL/OL Ht: 6-4 Wt: 270 40: 4.93 Booker HS
(Sarasota, FL) - his brother goes to scUM2 but probably won't get a scUM2 offer- maybe if we get Zellner, Atkins follows- some scUM2 fans think he wants to go to a lower level school like S. Florida- he is also visiting scUM

Richard Clebert DL Ht: 6-0 Wt: 275 40: 4.93 Miami Edison Senior HS(Miami, FL) - he likes scUM2 alot- he goes there if offered- we might have a chance otherwise

Antonio Dixon DL Ht: 6-4 Wt: 338 40: 5.2 Miami (FL)
Booker T. Washington- scUM2-although he did visit for summer camps- has shown little interest since

Willie Young DE Ht: 6-4 Wt: 205 40: 4.6 Palm Beach Gardens HS(Palm Beach Gardens, FL) - he has expressed a desire to stay close to home and would likely choose scUM2 if offered- might be on the small size for DE- he says he will visit tOSU

Chris Zellner DE/TE Ht: 6-3 Wt: 225 40: 4.6 Booker HS
(Sarasota, FL) - same school as Dumaka Atkins- I like our chances with him

C.J. Hunnicutt DE/LB Ht: 6-3 Wt: 215 40: 4.6 Manatee HS
(Bradenton, FL) - he probably won't get a tOSU offer- it could be Pitt

Javier Estopinan LB/TE Ht: 6-3 Wt: 230 40: 4.65 South Miami Senior HS(Miami, FL) - Has went to tOSU wrestling camps in the past- probably between Fla/NCST/tOSU

Brouce Mompremier LB Ht: 6-0 Wt: 205 40: 4.7 Miami Edison Senior HS(Miami, FL)- would go to scUM2 if offered- but that probably won't happen- it then comes down to tOSU and LSU

Vernon Smith LB Ht: 6-1 Wt: 230 40: 4.6 Fort Lauderdale (FL)Dillard- could be Oklahoma bound

Brandon Siler LB Ht: 6-3 Wt: 220 40: 4.52 Orlando (FL)
Evans- almost signed sealed and delivered to the Trojans

Kenny Ingram DB/WR Ht: 6-6 Wt: 220 40: 4.51 Edgewater HS(Orlando, FL)- scUM2, FSU, or USC- more than likely stays in state and goes to same school as his HS teammate Aaron Jones

SirDarean Adams QB/S/RB Ht: 6-1 Wt: 212 40: 4.42 Bayshore HS(Bradenton, FL) we will get a visit- extremely versatile player who could even play QB for us- scUM2 thinks he will end up there- the infamous "silent verbal"- he liked his trips to MSU and NE- hopefully we blow him away on his visit

Anthony Reddick S Ht: 6-1 Wt: 190 40: 4.6 St Thomas Aquinas HS(Fort Lauderdale, FL) - IMO it is between scUM2 and tOSU

Trevor Ford CB Ht: 6-1 Wt: 187 40: 4.4 Miami (FL)
Miami Northwestern- probably a FSU/scUM2 battle

Who does tOSU end up with in the end in addition to Bauserman and Morgan?

IMO
Best Chance- Kennedy or Shavers, Claude, Rutledge (if we want him),Zellner
Good Chance- Estopinan, Adams or Reddick
Slim to Moderate Chance- Mompremier, Clebert, Young, Dukes, Sims, Atkins

Impessive list, 86...nice work!

My best guess is Claude, Zellner, and Rutledge(if offered) to tOSU.

Good chance - Estopinan, Adams, Reddick, and Atkins(just a hunch), Young

Unlikely - Lee, Shavers, Dukes, Jones, Ford, Monpremier, Shavers, Kennedy

No chance - Siler, Lee, Chandler, Miller, Dile, Dunbar, Ford, Ingram, Joseph, Sims, Dixon, Hunnicutt.

The good news I think we land a handful of Florida prospects after being shut out last year.

Nutty- do you think Kennedy or Shavers is unlikely because we pick up another Ohio back or Walker? If so then I might agree with you but it seems like JT is trying to stockpile versatile athletes and Kennedy seems to fit the bill-he seems to want to come to tOSU

I was not impressed with Shavers' video at all. Very herky jerky and ran too upright. I think he's a fall back guy, IMO. If Walker, Russell, or Williams don't come to Ohio State I think we may pick up one of these two but neither one of them excite me.

Has Bauserman mention grayshirtting before, this is the first that I have heard of it. Is there also any talk about where he will go in the baseball draft? I know that he is a great prospect but since MLB is about 150 rounds it is tough to follow.

I agree about Shavers as a probable fall back guy if the other 3 fall through- I am sure we are looking at a number of fall back guys- but Kennedy already has an offer (according to Insiders) and I think his versatility is what makes him different- if he doesn't work out at RB then they try him in an other area- we know JT is trying to stock pile guys like this i.e. Adams, Patterson, Barrett etc.

diehard- yes the Bauserman grayshirting was agreed to by Joe and tOSU when he verbaled- he has always been a recruit for the '05 class.

If he goes in the first few rounds of the baseball draft then I think the assumption is he goes that direction (the talk is that he has a chance if he has a good senior season)- he supposedly has a mid 90's fastball

Good work on the Florida prospects. I agree with everything said, and think that our best chances with the remaining kids would be Claude, Zellner, and Rutledge; however, I also think that we have a good shot at Atkins (who is a teammate of Zellner) and Adams (who seems to want to leave Florida). Estopinan has a visit set (12/12), so OSU has a legitimate chance at him, too. Reddick is becoming more of a possibility as Miami fades from the scene.

Nutty, I agree with you about Shavers; I watched all of his video clips on Rivals, and was not terribly impressed with his style - not smooth at all. I would say that he is a project with some size and speed that might end up at a MAC-level school.

I don't know much about Kennedy, except that he at one point seemed very high on OSU. Does he have an offer, and is he a legit prospect?

Most of the other on 86's original list would seem to be longshots, but I had Morgan in that category as well - at least untl last week!

Great list... Miami has it's pie and is eating it too... seems like all the blue chippers want to go to Cryami, however Cryami can not offer everybody... seems like they pick who they see as the best, and let everybody else fight for the "scraps".... we just have to hope they aren't a great judge of talent :roll2:

With that said we have gotten good production out of the "scrap" players...

I think we have the best shot at the following Florida based prospects, Kennedy, Claude, Riddick, Rutledge, Zellner, Young, Estopinan, Dukes, Clerbert, Adams, Shavers, Joseph & Sims. However, (IMHO), I think we might land the following Florida players, Claude, Rutledge, Shavers (bigger back that tOSU has possibly been looking for), Young, Zellner and possibly Riddick as well to go along with Morgan. Florida is always our/tOSU second most important recruiting state behind Ohio of course.:)

not doubting the truth but i was wondering where u saw him as second WR in Florida? If you have a link I would love to have it! Rivals isnt to high on the guy, giving him only two stars and listing his 40 at 4.58 (anyone know where that time came from??). while i love rivals and think it is the best source for national recruiting rankings, I tend to trust local people when it comes to florida players more than national services. The local papers down there loved Holmes, but he didnt get a lot of love nationaly and we all see how that worked out. Dukes seems to be getting the same type of love as Holmes did down south. consequently I'm excited about the kid, hopefully your rong about his decision!

BTB4 - some of the posters on the miami recruiting board felt he was the #1 WR in florida this year, ahead of Xavier Carter. A lot of them are really hoping miami offers Dukes. They can't stand the thought of losing him like they lost Holmes. That info came from a few that supposedly watched him play this year.
