Position: LB
Projected as: LB
Position Rank: 1
Class: 2005 Senior
High School: Lakewood HS
(Lakewood, CA)

Biography:
Brown had 59 tackles, 17 assists, 4 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and 3 caused fumbles. He just tested in the weights with bench 325, squat 500 and clean 275. Brown carries a 2. GPA/790 SAT--retake Oct 9.

Scouting Report:Brown isn’t the biggest ‘backer or the fastest ‘backer but this prospect makes plays all over the field. Having said that he has good size, speed and strength. He can rush the passer, chase you down or play the pass. Brown is physical, relentless and nasty. He has a high motor, fights off blocks well, moves laterally and down hill. The bottom line with Luthur Brown is he’s a defensive playmaker. The kid is all over the field making plays. And he plays with intensity and passion.

Coach's Comments: "Luther is 6-3, 227 and he is just so physically impressive," said Lakewood Head Coach Mike Christensen. "I went to the Chargers training camp last year and he wouldn't look out of place in an NFL camp. He's still a kid but he's built like those guys and on top of that he runs like a Poly running back. He started 11 games as a sophomore. Last year he was the Moore League Defensive Player of the Year and was All-CIF first team. "

Brown - "I can play sideline-to-sideline and I think I'm better on the inside because I'm a bigger guy. I can also stuff plays up the middle. I have good speed and I'm aggressive. It's all or none. I just go out there and play. I think I need to get bigger and faster. But some colleges coaches tell me that I can go in and play right now."

Browns claims not to have a top 5 but when asked to list some favorites Ohio State is on his list. Oklahoma and USC are recruiting him the hardest right now.

2.0 GPA, 790 SAT???

wow, he'll have a hard time getting into any school, especially osu w/ our current standards. he is a stud athlete though, probably usc bound.

I highly doubt USC would take someone with those numbers. Let's talk NCSt, Marshall, Diet scUM, etc. The schools that have programs already in place for underachieving students--among the general student body, I mean, not just the athletes.
