'05 CA OL Kevin Bemoll (California signee)

He is 100% gone. Hope he enjoys the college he chooses and has a good career there.

It looks that way as of today. However, a couple of years back, Louis Irizarry appeared to be " 100% gone" to Miami, then (unfortunately) re-committed to the Buckeyes a couple of weeks later. After looking around, Kevin may eventually discover that his first choice was best for him.

BTW, as much as I dislike "losing" a player like Kevin, I realize that OSU has been the beneficiary of other programs' de-commitments; this year, for example, James Laurinaitis originally committed to Minnesota before pledging to Ohio State, and Buckeye prospects Jason Gwaltney and Carlos Thomas were also previously committed to other schools (West Virginia and Georgia Tech, respectively). Things generally work out alright in the end....

Good point, LJB. It still stings losing Bemoll the way we did, but we'll get our share of de-commitments as well.

Marcel Frost had been committed to Iowa before jumping ship when Tressel offered him.

It's so true...for every Stanley McGlover, there is a Marcel Frost. If Kevin decides to stay out West for his college career, best of luck to him. I'm sure we will find a way to finish to finish strongly, despite a lot of people knocking Tressel for not having a good track record on Signing Day. This calss, with or without Kevin, looks to be a very special one already, and is only going to get better after the game in San Antonio this weekend...

The talented lineman committed way back in the summer to Ohio State but said he's basically down to Cal and Oregon, where he'll visit next weekend.

Kevin still likes OSU, has great respect for the coaches, etc. but (1) Columbus is far away from home, especially considering (2) the possible (but admittedly unlikely) NCAA sanctions.

It sounds like Kevin might end up in Columbus if he were certain that there would be no sanctions. Unfortunately, no one (including OSU's staff) can make that guarantee.
