'05 CA OL Kevin Bemoll (California signee)

I guess it could be possible, but it's pretty clear we have zero O-Linemen left on the recruiting board. The popular train of thought was that OSU would take 3, if not 4, OL in this class. And with a couple possible unexpected scholarships opening up, I don't think it's a numbers crunch. If Bemoll is good enough for Oregon and Cal, he is good enough for OSU... especially since OSU offered relatively early in the year.
I also would have guessed 3 or 4 OL spots for this class, but it may have only been 2 with the original size of the class being around 15. The very first post on the TAZ thread by HH mentions that Bollman had two spots this year.

Now that we know the specifics of Troy's misdeed do you think there is any chance Kevin will feel better about the program and come in for a visit?

While it was bad news for Troy, I think the additional details show OSU was not involved and there should be no additional implications beyond Troy's individual suspension.

I think that it's simple. Bemoll visited OSU and loved it. After some time passed, he had second thoughts about his OSU verbal. He saw the negative publicity as a convenient way to back out. He will not change his mind unless he re-visits OSU and falls for it again. In other words, he's ghandi.

Exactly...and I don't blame the kid...at least he was kind enough to not wait until the week leading up to Signing Day to decide this. This is a tough decision for these kids and I can understand what he is going through. I would ahve loved to have seen him in the S&G, but I wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up...

A lot of folks were saying that and even the coaching staff had indicate three. However, Bollman was quoted this spring as saying he had more OL in camp than he had ever had anywhere he had coached. That was without Mitchum, Skinner, and Person. The only scholarship OL we lose this year are McLaughlin and Kne - both former walk ons. And next year we only lose two more (three if you count Tyree - whatever his status is). OL is by no means the crisis position it was two years ago. Still, a third would be sweet.

Are we still in on Hugh Jasz?

Could you tell me if he's better than Cordle or the same level.
not wstripes but I dont think its an equal comparison. Bemoll looks to be a roadgrader - I think he played tackle in high school. Colleges werent sure where he projected on the next level. I think he got away with his size and strength compared to the competition in high school. I have read many threads about him saying he was slow and a part of the system [ THESE ARE NOT MY EXACT OPINIONS, only comments I have seen].

Cordle is your prototype pulling guard, athletic but needs to put on some weight in order to handle the DT on the college level. I heard he had the best feet they had seen awhile atthe OSU camp. The other question for Cordle will be his adjustment to pass blocking, the benefit is that he is on the inside and will have the C and T to help until he gets IT.

Totally different players in totally different high school offenses.

IMO, Cordle is the better prospect. He is very athletic and very mean. He runs really well and can pull to either side. Check out his films sometime and you'll come away impressed. His only drawback is that his high school ran the ball about 98% of the time, and thus he'll need to work on pass blocking at Ohio State.

What made Bemoll such an intriguing prospect was his ability to play tackle; if he can't play tackle at the next level, then his value drops to some extent, as it is easier to find and develop guards than tackles. That being said, Bemoll was still one of the top OL's whom OSU was recruiting this year, and I would love to have him in this class.

BTW, Boone may be the best high school OL in the country - great now with huge upside.

Well, I don't want to start bashing Bemoll to much here. I just want to respond one last time on Wstripes (Bemoll, Wstripes is a USC Fan) comments about Bemoll not being that good. Twice I'v heard D.Long talk about Bemoll and both times there was not a lot of enthusiasm for Bemoll. Duane praises all the recruits especially Ohio kids, but Bemolls praise was mediocre. I personally have not seem his film, so I couldn't tell you how Bemoll looks...

I have seen Bemoll play numerous times and I thought he was a very very good get for tOSU...

I respect what wstripes has to say..but I beg to differ with him on this guy---he's not a tackle like Boone---but when he got his hands on guys inside they were "neutralized"(he's not the quickest, but strong as an ox)

sorry we didn't get him--but somehow, someway we will still field a team next year....LOL

here's a quote from ryan williams regarding Bemoll

"When asked what it is like to line-up in practice across from his current Mission Viejo teammate, and fellow Ohio State Verbal Commitment, Offensive Lineman Kevin Bemoll, he replied: “he is very, very good and his best strength is that if he gets on you, he will kill you because he is so big and strong.”
