'05 FL WR/DB Eric Sledge (Florida signee)

Sledge talked to Coach Heacock last week and is considering visiting the Buckeyes but isn't sure if it will be an official or unofficial. Louisville was his first offer and he'll "probably" visit there. He has a bunch of schools he's still considering including NC State, Notre Dame, Florida and FSU just to name a few.

Sledge has visits set up with West Virginia and Louisville. He says Georgia Tech and Ole Miss will get a visit too. Ohio State called him last week but he does not have a visit scheduled with the Buckeyes.

Sledge will appear on Countdown to Signing Day on Fox Sports South tonight at 6:30.

I just watched countdown to signing day on Fox Sports South, and they interviewed Eric Sledge and asked him who his top 5 were and it was Ohio State, WV, Louisville, and 2 others that i forget. He was also asked who was recruiting him the hardest and who stuck out in his mind and he said The Ohio State University and he really likes coach Tressel and he likes the direction the program is going, seemed like a well spoken kid too, so looks like we dont have another MoC here. Good News to me i guess, didnt expect him at all but after watching that i doubt we dont get him, but HH said up top we are cooling on him, so i dont know how that corresponds with this?.....

Sledge's senior season is over and he now will concentrate on recruiting. Here is what he had to say about where he might visit:

"I have one visit set up with West Virginia (12-10). Louisville and Ohio State are good bets to get visits too. I might also visit Georgia, Auburn, or Tennessee. I'm wide open among all of those schools."

Is the staff looking at him for db or wr.

Eric Sledge said:
“Most of the schools I am looking at are recruiting me as an athlete,” Sledge said. “I could play wide receiver or defensive back. I feel like I am equally as good at either position, although there is always room to improve.”

He says he has been talking to Coach Heacock and tOSU is a "good bet" for a visit. He likes the tradition and players at tOSU. Eric is looking for the best chance to play early.

If the grades quoted in the article are correct, he appears fully qualified.

Visiting WVU this weekend

Another hot prospect is Eric Sledge, who is being recruited as a wide receiver, but could just as easily find himself in the Mountaineer secondary as a safety.

Sledge finished his second season with 17 catches for more than 300 yards and four touchdowns, but also had 60 tackles and four interceptions-returning two of them for touchdowns.
