'05 FL WR/DB Eric Sledge (Florida signee)

I say he'll play CB, but anyone who thinks it will diminish his role in the offense even a little bit is delusional.
His coach did say that he thought Sledge was much better in coverage as a Corner than roaming free as a Safety on his Rivals profile. However, with his new found weight and growth spurt, he could be a dominating WR for us (he has great speed as well). I really want this kid. He is a local kid (for me) who plays about 30min from my home. I would love to watch him in the S&G!!!!!!

Have you seen him play in person? His measurables remind me of Devon Lyons...

Take a look at the photo at the top of this thread. Jessica Simpson has bigger calves.
I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the size of his calves. At 6' 5", unless your an OL, you're probably going to have thin calves. I don't remember Gamble, Jenkins, Drew Carter having big calves. Hell, Teddy G. has thin calves. But I agree, some pancakes wouldn't hurt.
Some of these lines are jokes, folks. Particularly the ones with the little winking happy faces. I lost practically no sleep last night worrying about the size of Eric's calves. Honest.

Sorry, I never got out to see him play... although I was really anxious to go see Wells play Sledge during the playoffs this year. However, I saw his name in the paper down here quite a few times.

Sledge Pumped To Play For Spurrier

By Phil Kornblut
Steve Spurrier had to convince WR Eric Sledge (6-4 195) of Apopka, FL that his offense would be better than Louisville's, and he did the job. Sledge committed to USC Sunday af the conclusion of his official visit. "It was a very hard decision," he said. "Louisville is the hottest team in the country right now. They've set all those offensive records. And if I were sure coach Petrino would be there four years, I might have committed to them. But coach Spurrier wants to achieve things that haven't been done before at South Carolina. He's a legend. He definitely has a history of putting receivers in the NFL. And I'm like, why can't I be the next one. I have a good chance to start next season. They have a great coaching staff and he's a living legend and a man of his word. Coach Spurrier told me he's going to have the best quarterback. He might get some guy who committed to North Carolina out of Tennessee (Cade Thompson). He's a pretty tall dude. He can really see over the line." Sledge has also visited West Virginia and Louisville and was scheduled to visit Ohio State and Florida the next two weekends. "I'm through," he said about more visits.

This surprises me a bit...I thought we had an excellent shot at him...

Here's hoping that Kearney, Wilson, Gwaltney, and McCarthy finish out this class...

Wad, I am setting myself up to not be shocked when WA commits to PSU or SC....the last interview I saw already had OSU in second behind SC before the PSU visit.I think this class may be done after Wilson and maybe McCarthy. Pretty lame finish....

What?? I thought he was here this weekend? Or is it next?
Anyways, heres to hoping he still visits next week, and changes his mind.
SC just got a verbal from Carlos Thomas per BN, so maybe that will sway him.

He has stated that he will not take anymore visits (he had one scheduled for next wk)

Anyways, maybe HH was telling the truth (and I think he was ) when he said that Sledge was favoring tOSU. However, that was before the SoCar visit this weekend and he has no way of knowing what will happen on these visits. He seemed to have his mind made after the visit and thought that playing for Spurrier gave him the best opportunity for success (perosnal success, not team... obviously). The kid has all the tools to be a very good college player, and I would have loved to have him in the S&G, but it just wasn't in the cards for us. It is not HH's fault he committed to SoCar this weekend, he had no idea that his visit would go so well.
