He will commit to UGA, right... He doesn't have an offer from them as far as I heard.

i believe UGA told him if he visited there this weekend, they would offer him.

as an aside, i hate using scout.com as an indication of offers because it is wrong quite often.
Agreed. I have seen conflicting reports of the offer though. A few said he has the offer and others said it was based on the visit.

either way, i have a feeling he will commit to uga this weekend.

if he doesnt, osu has a good shot, but htat is probably a big if. uga does have two good lb pickups already, and a few other lb visits coming up, so maybe kearney will be turned off by the depth, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

From the Wilson Thread:

"OSU coaches also await word from Youngstown Ursuline two-way standout Kyle McCarthy, a late-bloomer who also is being courted by Notre Dame and Navy; linebacker Tavares Kearney of Atlanta, who seems to be down to OSU and South Carolina; and defensive lineman Walker Ashley of Eden Prairie, Minn., who won’t announce until signing day whether it will be OSU, USC, Oklahoma, Minnesota or Penn State."

Hmmm interesting but I'm still thinking he will commit to UGA this weekend. I hope I'm wrong but UGA has been on his from the beginning...even without the offer. Reminds of an Ohio kid waiting for that tOSU offer no matter who else is courting him.

Let's hope I'm wrong

Tavares found out he had food poisoning on his visit to tOSU, but it was from something he ate before he left for Ohio. He still visited the stadium and the WHAC but did miss the recruit dinner saturday night. Tavares said the whole trip was "pretty good." He did like Coach Fickell, who is in for a visit today with Coaches Hazell and Tucker while Coach Tressel will be in next week for a visit. However, Tavares did mention the depth chart and two returning seniors at OLB. He did mention his list was "probably" down to tOSU and UGA, but did say playing near home was a consideration.

Overall, a good interview, but UGA seems to be in the driver's seat here.

Some good clarification in this article. SC is officially out as Coach Spurrier visited Tavares' school and wanted a commitment on the spot but did not receive it. That move prompted Tavares to drop SC. Kearney does not have an offer from UGA but was guaranteed to have one before he leaves Athens this weekend. He was excited about the visit and offer. He may take another visit 1/28 to either Florida, Illinois, or Oklahoma State. As of now, the decision is between tOSU and UGA.
