'05 KY TE/DE James McKinney (Michigan signee, Louisville transfer)

JamO told Gary from bn that James is going to be visiting the 10th with him as they have become good friends from the junior combine at the AA game last year. He said it is not over for him and he is really trying to convince him. Also Robbie he said he is going to give him a call too and try and see what he can do.

It appears Jamario O'Neal is a pretty reliable source(He's a Buckeye, why wouldn't he be? ) McKinney states Ohio State will be one of the schools he will visit officially although he does not give a date. He will wait until the Army AA game to announce his decision. He is visiting Clemson this weekend.

I think if we get the commitments from Mo Wells, Rico, and maybe Gwaltney at the AA the buckeye moementum might pick up and we might get him down there too. With JamO in his ear and soon to be Robbie, I am going to keep my fingers crossed as he no longer claims he has any favorites, but he did just a week ago. Also he saw us pound one of his other teams into the ground. He also heard how electric our crowd can be.

McKinney will trip to either LSU or Ohio State for his 5th official visit. Coach Heacock is scheduled to meet with him this week to talk about it. If he visits Columbus it will be some time in late January. All his other visits should be done by the end of December. He won't announce his decision until close to signing day.

McKinney will be taking his scUM official this weekend.

He wants to take all his visits before he makes a decision- NE (Nov. 26), OU (Dec. 17th) and tOSU (Jan). Jamario also moved his official to January (maybe taking it at the same time??? :) ). He said he will probably wait until after his tOSU visit to announce (which means he may not announce at the AA game).

He just go back from his scUM official- still no commitment. scUM told him that he is the kinda of guy that could play both sides of the ball (TE on offense and OLB on defense). He will visit OU next and then tOSU in January.

one of the better quotes after his visit

"It was really a mediocre visit," he said. "I mean the coaches, the people, the staff and the academics at Michigan are all fantastic," he said. "But there isn't anything to do there, it really wasn't what I expected."

I am beginning to really like James :scum4:

Maybe there's hope of the Bucks sliding in here afterall.
I'd like to believe so but the recent update from Schoenhoft leads me to believe that OSU is slowly falling out of favor with McKinney. Robby said that he's stopped attempting to persuade McKinney to become a buckeye because he gets the feeling that McKinney wants to go elsewhere.

McKinney will see OU this weekend then will not make a visit until the AA game. He will then choose between tOSU and Florida for his final visit- a decision will come soon after. Florida has emerged because of the hiring of an ND assistant who McKinney likes (just like Lawerence Wilson).

He said he was definitely going to take an official visit before the MoC "stuff" but will now wait to see how everything plays out before deciding on his visit.

He claims not to have a sold leader. He will make his visits and then decide.

He also knows and likes Jamario O'Neal. They stay in touch over the phone. Hopefully they can take their official together.

Comments about tOSU

“I like O-State. Until recently I had family right downtown in Columbus and I spent time with them when I was up there,” McKinney said. “They’re football crazy up there. The fans are wild and they enjoy the Buckeyes.”
