'05 KY TE/DE James McKinney (Michigan signee, Louisville transfer)

O'neil is talking to him down in San Anton, trying to convince him to take a visit to tOSU. Don't know if the coaches still want him, I think this guy has warning signs written all over him, but maybe he is that good. At one point, Duane said he would rather have him than grady, the scum RB verbel.

McKinney making most of all-star opportunity

He talks about what a great experience San Antonio has been so far and how great it is to represent the state of Kentucky. He mentions how awesome the East O-line is. So far he has visited Michigan, Clemson, Louisville and Nebraska. He still says his 5th visit will be on the 21st to either Florida, Oklahoma, or OSU. He discusses what happened at Louisville a bit. He says he is not leaning towards any one school enough to publically say it.

In my opinion I still think he ends up at Michigan...

James' recruitment has been a rollercoaster...no doubt. From his early committment to scUM to his decommittment to the Lousiville incident. I always just got the feeling that he realized that he committed to scUM too early and thus wanted to back off his committment so he could still take some visits. But if that were the case, would you really take your visits to places like Nebraska? I mean, I'm sure it's a lovely state and a lovely campus and all, but if I am getting a free trip, I am headed to Miami or Baton Rouge. Nebraska seemed to make a big impression on him, as they seem to have their program headed in the right direction. Clemson seemed kind of a fleeting fancy to James. Oklahoma seemed to lose some points with him as the year progressed. scUM has been the one constant. In the end, I think he ends up there.

I think the interesting part about this guy is that he has hated nearly everyone of his official visits. Who commits to a school where there is " nothing to do, its not at all what I expected."

I am not making predictions...actually its the opposite I think there is no way to predict where he is going. He has given no indications.

He kind of reminds me of Lawrence Wilson, only because it seems like James is looking for reasons not to go to Michigan...

Maybe Jamario pulls off the recruiting coup of the century and gets James to come to Columbus...:p

Might just be me, but I dont like this kids attitude one bit.
He sounds like a rotten apple, and thats the last thing we need.
But I guess if Tressel still wants him, then hes got to be doing something right.

Opinions will vary of course...however, none of us know James personally.

Let's all just make sure we don't cross that line of decency with our opinions...read the recruiting forum rules again if you are unsure.

...Or maybe he's just be replacing a departed senior. Last time I checked, we didn't have a full class yet.:roll2:

Don't mean to be a jerk, but we go through these innuendos every offseason (so-and-so's transferring, so-and-so's flunking out), and it's kinda tiresome.

James was disappointed in the result of the AA game but attributes it to the East playing as individuals instead of a team. Right now, scUM is still in the lead for his services and Coach Carr has been calling him daily to seal the deal. He likes Coach Mattison at Florida and may still take a visit to Gainesville, but it is still not definite. Florida is off to a late start in his recruitment and that may be a deciding factor. The only other school mentioned as still pursuing James is Nebraska.

I don't think the staff has been recruiting him for quite some time...Jamario seems to be trying to get the kid to visit OSU yet I am not sure if the staff feels the same way...

According to the BN free article on Lawrence Wilson, scUM is out of scholarships... what does this mean for McKinney? and could it lead him to tOSU w/he and JamO becoming good friends?

It could also mean scUM is already factoring McKinney into their alloted-for schollies.
