In commenting about Ohio State and the other top schools who are recruiting him, Lamont said that "it's an honor for them to be recruiting me." It's nice to see a kid have that attitude, when so many act like prima donnas during the recruiting process.

It is an honor to OSU by recruiting him? Or is it an honor to Lamont to be recruited by OSU? If he is saying that it is an honor for OSU, then that is not the attitude we need here.

My guess would be Robinson meant "it's an honor, for them to be recruiting me" not "it's an honor for them, to be recruiting me"
Yes, your comma is in the right place. I took the quote somewhat out of context, but the idea was that Robinson is honored to be receiving attention from such great programs.

VA newspaper article on Robinson commitment

Another day, another commitment from a touted football prospect for the University of Virginia.

The 17th player to commit to U.Va. for 2005 - and the fourth in the past week - is Lamont Robinson, a New Jersey resident whom Rivals.com rates the fifth-best inside linebacker among the nation's rising seniors.

The 6-2 225-pounder is ranked No. 89 overall in the Class of'05.

Robinson, who attends Salem High in south Jersey, has a 4.29 grade-point average and scored 1,070 on the SAT. He said yesterday that he has scholarship offers from 26 schools, including Ohio State, Michigan, Miami (Fla.) and Oklahoma.

He chose the Cavaliers, Robinson said, because "basically they have everything to offer that I could want in a football program."

Assistant coach Mike Groh led Virginia's pursuit of Robinson, who cited the school's academic reputation, its proximity to south Jersey, his relationship with its coaching staff ("I just loved the vibes I got from everyone") and the fact that Scott Stadium has a grass field.

Robinson was injured in an offseason car wreck but said he's healthy and will be cleared to play this fall.
