'05 Ohio OL Zach Hennis (Kentucky Signee)

There is now video of Hennis over at the Insiders. While I am no expert, here is my take. The video isn't great and sometimes it's hard to find him. He doesn't have the feet Cordle and Boone do(not many do). He comes off the ball at the snap fairly but didn't really dominate the guy in front of him. He probably needs to work on his upper body strength and finishing blocks. The only play he had to pass block didn't show anything because he didn't have to block anyone. He certainly has the size butwould need time before he would contribute at Ohio State, especially with the guys we have up front already and the ones on the way.

Nutty, I just watched the videos on BN. Your analysis is pretty much identical to my initial thoughts. Overall, I wasn't that impressed. He will be a project wherever he signs. The size and mobility were evident. However, I was surprised at how many "soft" blocks were in his highlight film...in a few he almost misses the LB entirely. He did not finish blocks nor show the nasty streak good offensive lineman possess.

I'm just glad he's camping at OSU. Bollman will get a chance to see in person if he's got what it takes. It would be great year if a third in-stater made the cut at OL. It seems Brewster is the one who gets the most mention as a possibility.

As far as in state prospects go I think you hit the nail on the head. Much like last year we probably wait to see if we can land a oos OL or two before turning to a guy like Brewster unless he really impresses at camp. It would be nice to land a kid like Monroe, Roark or even the kid from Mission Viejo and I'm sure the staff wants to wait on them like Mitchum and Hart last year.

I just watched Hennis' films on both BN and BSB, seven clips in all. I saw maybe three crushing blocks. Lots of soft ones. Lots of pushing without locking up his man and driving him out of the hole. Some pass "blocks" where he wasn't anywhere near a man.

I was surprised at how poorly his team ran up the middle (many losses and no-gainers); this is an indication that the interior line (including RG Hennis) simply wasn't getting the job done. At best, Hennis seemed to fall on his man, which took his man out of the play, but left the hole clogged. Compare Hennis' film to Roark, or even Akers - no comparison. Just a big kid, IMHO.

No offer, and I doubt that he will get one. A project.

So much for the Donnie Nickey effect with this kid.....He has one offer so far and Michigan stated that they want to see him play a couple of games...I guess this would lead you to believe that he hasn't blown anyone's mind at Camp.
