'05 PA LB Andre Mathis (Tennessee signee)

rivals premium

His top 5 are Ohio State, Florida, Penn State, Michigan State and Tennessee. He also said scUM could slide in if they offer (remember they were an early favorite). He also will consider Pitt and Iowa (Erie connection-same school as Bob Sanders).

But if two schools stand out it would be tOSU and Florida. :osu:

On August 9th, Andre's top three were OSU, PSU, and Tennessee; now, it's OSU and Florida. It's good to see that OSU is the constant in the equation. If distance is a factor, then Ohio State would have an edge over Florida.

Mathis In No Hurry To Decide
By Duane Long
Date: Sep 3, 2004

Don't expect a decision anytime soon from four-star linebacker Andre Mathis of Erie (Pa.) Cathedral Prep. But the fine prospect is considering Ohio State. Click on this free link to find out where Mathis stands with his recruitment.

Four-star linebacker Andre Mathis of Erie (Pa.) Cathedral Prep is in no hurry to make a decision.

"I am going to take all my visits," he said. "I want to be very clear about that."

Don't even expect any news on his visits to come until after the season.

"I have not set up anything on any visits yet," Mathis said. "I am not going to set things up until December."

Mathis does have five schools that he is focusing on as far as his visits are concerned.

"Ohio State, Florida, Tennessee, Michigan State, and Penn State," he said. "Those have been my schools and nothing's changed on that."

Ohio State is one of the schools closest in proximity to Erie, and Mathis has been studying up on the Buckeyes.

"I know a lot about Ohio State," he said. "It's only 2 1/2, 3 hours away. Joe Daniels is recruiting me for Ohio State."

What will be the main factors in his decision?

"I just want to feel right with the campus and the school," Mathis said. "I just have to be comfortable. It's got to fit me."

Will playing time make a difference?

"I don't really care," Mathis said. "If I redshirt, I redshirt. That's not going to play a part in the decision."

Erie Cathedral Prep has been known to take on some Ohio teams, and this year, they will be taking on two of the higher-profile programs from the Youngstown area.

"Last year, we played Lakewood St. Edward and Cleveland St. Ignatius," Mathis said. "This year, we're going to play Austintown-Fitch and Youngstown Ursuline."

The 6-2, 230 Mathis is definitely being looked at as a linebacker in college, but where he plays on offense gives a good idea of what kind of athlete this is.

"I play receiver right now," he said. "That's not a position for me, it's just where the team needs me right now."

Mathis had 88 tackles and 2.5 sacks as a junior despite missing two games. He has not yet thought about a major in college and lists an 800 SAT score and a 3.0 core GPA.

Buckskin86 and Bucknutty. Is there a money pool to help pay for your rivals and insiders subscriptions? Since you sum up the premium info so nicely for the rest of us, I think there should be.

Thanks- no need to send me anything but if you (or anyone else) wants to contribute maybe you could send Clarity a contribution for BP? Much of the cost of this site has come out of his pocket.

ECP gave Fitch their toughest game so far this year, losing at Fitch 14-10.
