Hivera Green
Offensive guard / Defensive tackle
Conway (SC)
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 271 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.8 seconds
Bench max: 340 pounds

Biography:
Green had over 120 tackles, 5 sacks, 4 deflected passes, 5 caused fumbles and 5 fumble recoveries as a junior.

SR (8-0) stats: 50+ tackles/5 sacks
3.0/Sept first-time ACT unreported

Green: "I'm good at coming off the pass rush and chasing the ball. I need to work at staying low and playing at a low position. As soon as I take care of that, I'll be complete."

Green is a 3 star prospect according to rivals. The #25 guard in the country.

Rivals Premium

Green is scheduled to meet with Ohio State coaches on Tuesday. He is expecting a Buckeye offer. Oklahoma is interested as well. When asked how offers from those two schools would effect him he said "I’ve always liked Oklahoma, and I’ve always thought Ohio State would be a good place, too. I’d still have to take my visits and then see what’s up.”

don't understand this if we do offer first of all were stacked at DLine, and the coaches have already made it clear they only want 3 OLineman this year with the recruitment of TAZ, but I like this kids size 6-5 271 with 4.8 speed

This kid terrorized us for two years down here...he is a beast. He, along with teammates Eric Huggins (Oklahoma verbal) and Bobby Wallace (USCarolina & Spurrier's 1st commitment), have been the foundation of a team that has appeared in the 4A state finals two out the last three years. They were upset in the second round this year. If not for national powerhouse Byrnes HS (Spartanburg), he could be wearing two championship rings. Hivera was supposedly an early scUM lean...supposedly the influence of an Asst Coach guided him that way. As of late, his recruitment has been wide open.

21, since you've seen him...do you think he's better suited for the O-line or D-line?
D-line IMHO. He is relentless which is also a great trait for an OL, but I was much more impressed with him defensively. A good year in the weightroom might bump that weight up a little, but he is too explosive, IMO, to be used on the offensive side.

Hivera Green: D-lineman strives to make Grandma happy
By Keith Pompey
The Sun News

In this day, Hivera Green talks of his grandmother.

Not halfway through a conversation about his scholarship offers to play Division I-A football, the Conway defensive end speaks of the woman who raised him.

Im just happy to know that she doesnt have to pay nothing, he says of Mary Green. . . . This is my way to pay her back in life even though I cant fully pay her back for what shes done. This is just a little way I can pay her back.

With 15 scholarship offers already, the Green household will almost certainly be bombarded this fall with calls from college recruiters, recruiting analysts and the media. Theyll want to know which school the 6-foot-5, 255-pound junior, who covers 40 yards in 4.8 seconds, favors.

I havent really thought about when Im going to make it, Green says of his college decision. Im thinking like during the football season. Not too early. I want to get some trips in.

Maybe its best that Green takes his time.

When asked to give his top five choices, he didnt have an answer.

When asked which school hes leaning toward, Green mentioned two Michigan and Florida State.
I cant give you one, says Green, who has yet to take the ACT or SAT. Its too hard to give [a top school]. Thats why I cant give a top five because its really hard.

Besides the Wolverines and Seminoles, Green lists Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Florida as favorites.

He hasnt ruled out playing collegiately with Conway teammate and close friend Eric Huggins. The only setback is Huggins is leaning toward Oklahoma. And the Sooners havent offered Green a scholarship.

If I was offered from Oklahoma that would be good, says Green, who recently took an unofficial visit to Oklahoma with Huggins and Conway wideout coach Tyler Palisin.

But I didnt get overly excited, thinking that I would get an offer. If they give me an offer that would be great. If they dont, I still have other schools looking at me.

The schools that have offered Green believe he could grow to be as big as his father, Rob Lee, who is 6-7 and more than 300 pounds.

Regarded by many as one of the states top-10 prospects, colleges have noticed Greens tenacity.

He never quits on a play, Conway defensive line coach Steve Hall says of Green, who had 122 tackles and five sacks last season. He makes a lot of tackles coming on the backside.

I remember reading some articles on him earlier in the year, he had scUM as a large favorite but they didn't offer. Sounds like a good one!

I think we have Wilson in the bag and with already having Williams, Doug, denlinger, and potentially Ashley I dont understand this unless we'll offer after one of our recruits commits elsewhere..

Its actually possible. The North/South All-Star game is this saturday in Myrtle Beach. I'll be on the sidelines and will surely come across Coach Jordan during the day. I'll at least try to get some insight on his direction. Right now, SC is buzzing from Spurrier though...unless he is committed to going out of state, I'd say the Gamecocks might jump in the action. George Gause(DE) is from Conway and would be a great selling point/influence for SC

None of those guys are pure tackles though. Green looks like an explosive DT.

Here is an article on Spurrier landing Wallace from Conway and discussing Huggins (OU commit) and Green. I have been reading that Spurrier's first goal is to lock down S. Carolina.

During his short visit to Conway's campus, Spurrier also reaffirmed South Carolina's offer to Tigers defensive lineman Hivera Green (6-4, 270). Green has not made any commitment and has official visits scheduled with South Carolina, Clemson, Tennessee and Virginia Tech early next year.

People fret over different positions. Some always want more QBs or more DBs or more OL. Personally, I always want more DLs. Unlike OL, who have to gell as a unit and don't really require frequent subs, you can never have too many fresh DLs ready to come in and wreak havoc. If we get Worthington, Denlinger-he is a pure DT IMO-didn't seem incredibly mobile when I watched him play against an undersized line this year, Williams, and Wilson-he is 98% in the bag-I would be very pleased with this years DL class. If we were to add one more stud DT I would be absolutely ecstatic. Hopefully Mr. Green wants to expand his horizons beyond the Gamecocks and Tigers......
