Rumors flying on the USC board that the Trojans are out of the running because Konrad wants to play right away and PC cannot promise that.
there's a first... good to see one guy won't buy his bull (either that or its starting to wear thin around the nation)

The depth chart looks great for him here. We have Hamby graduating, Frost is very unproven and will be a junior, and Nicol is also unproven and will be a junior. We have Ballard coming in who is VERY tough but I think Konrad is even better and would start over him. I have a feeling if he ends up leaving state it will be to come back to his home state. I don't see him going to Nebraska or Notre Dame. Possibly Miami Fl. but he really hasn't talked about them much and they have alot of talent at TE. I like our chances at this point.

i know he's not ready to name favorites yet, but i was hearing that it was suspected that USC, UCLA, and tOSU were his favorites. if USC is truly out, then i like our chances. although UCLA does have the Molines and is losing an A-A caliber TE in Marcedes Lewis.

Mission Viejo (Calif.), ranked No. 1 in the country by SchoolSports, scored the first 48 points en route to a 55-36 victory over Issaquah (Wash.) in the third matchup of the 2005 SchoolSports Rivalry Tour presented by Old Spice.

The game, held at Qwest Field in Seattle, Wash. over the Labor Day weekend, quickly turned into a blowout after Mission Viejo torched Issaquah for one-play touchdown drives of 80, 38 and 40 yards before halftime. Issaquah compounded matters in the first half by fumbling three times and managing only one first down and 11 yards of total offense, including minus-2 yards rushing.

After fumbling the kickoff and watching Issaquah miss its field goal attempt, Mission Viejo’s first play from scrimmage provided a glimpse of what was to come. Diablos quarterback R.J. Toman faked a handoff to 240-pound running back Chane Moline and passed to wide-open Sean Fitzgerald for the 80-yard touchdown. Then the rout began, and by halftime the Diablos led 48-0.

Moline rushed six times for 66 yards and three touchdowns, and Fitzgerald, a 6-foot-4 receiver, added another touchdown reception of 40 yards. In all, 10 Diablos caught passes, and none of their starters played in the second half.

Among the limited highlights for Issaquah were junior running back Matt Gellatly 71-yard touchdown run on the opening drive of the second half to get the Eagles on the board. And later in the third quarter, quarterback Bryan Jones connected with Bryce Buslach for a 21-yard score. Also, Issaquah backup quarterback Ryan Wewerka completed 7 of 9 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown.

The end product
Mission Viejo's Reuland has a work ethic his coach says is 'unbelievable.'

By DAN ALBANO

The Orange County Register

MISSION VIEJO Konrad Reuland puts his sweat into practice and studies game tape. But he still plans to take an extra precaution for tonight's game.
Mission Viejo's touted senior will guzzle an additional bottle or two of Pedialyte - a drink for babies full of electrolytes - to help him avoid cramping. The tougher the opponent, the more fluid Reuland drinks.

"It's definitely a 3- or 4-liter game," he said with a smile earlier this week.
The top-ranked Diablos' opponent: visiting Mater Dei.

Not only are the No.7 Monarchs (0-1) the best team Mission Viejo (2-0) has faced, they have extra significance for Reuland.

He attended the private, Catholic high school for most of his freshman year before transferring to Mission Viejo, ranked No.1 in nation this week by the National Prep Football Poll.

"It's one of the biggest games of the year for me," Reuland said.

And, if the matchup with his old school and some of his old friends wasn't enough to turn Mater Dei's attention toward No.88, the Monarchs have the memory of this game last season.

In his first varsity start, Reuland had one of his best games, collecting a season-high six receptions for 95 yards in Mission Viejo's 14-7 victory. The effort earned him the Diablos' offensive player of the week award.

While Mater Dei has the familiarity with Mission Viejo's offense to plot a strategy for the 6-foot-6, 240-pound Reuland, he isn't one to back down from a challenge if the Monarchs have some success.

How else do you explain his transition from a basketball player to the No.1-ranked tight end recruit in the nation?

"He doesn't take a down off in practice," Mission Viejo coach Bob Johnson said. "His work ethic is unbelievable."

Nicknamed "Drago" by teammates because of a resemblance to Russian Ivan Drago of Rocky III fame, Reuland didn't play tackle football until his sophomore year.

He concentrated on basketball as a youth, playing on the Piranhas travel team coached by his father, Ralf, who played basketball at Fountain Valley.
Football, Reuland said, was his favorite sport growing up, but he didn't play because he was too big to play against kids in his age group.

He also didn't play football at Mater Dei, instead focusing on making the varsity basketball team. Reuland, listed at 6-6 as a freshman, made the squad and was a reserve guard on the Monarchs' Division II state championship team in 2003.

Reuland said Mater Dei expressed interest in him joining its football program, but he put it off until the spring of his freshman year. He practiced about two weeks then departed for Mission Viejo.

Reuland wanted to play receiver when he first started playing football. But with his size, speed and sure hands, coaches put him at tight end.

As a sophomore, he was a spot-starter behind Jed Collins, now at Washington State, and brought along slowly in a pro-style offense. As a junior, Reuland caught a team-high 44 passes for 729 yards and seven touchdowns in earning first-team All-Orange County honors.

"The pass catching came naturally," said Reuland, who also plays basketball at Mission Viejo.

But as well as he played, he didn't show the physical blocking skills he has displayed this season.

"Last year, he wanted to get the right guys (blocked)," said Bret Johnson, Mission Viejo's offensive coordinator and son of the coach. "This year, his mindset is, 'I'm going to put that guy on his back.'"

Reuland also has shown his strength after the catch. In the first two weeks of the season against Issaquah, Wash., and Long Beach Jordan, he made receptions short of the goal line and carried defenders into the end zone for touchdowns.

Bret said Notre Dame and Coach Charlie Weis are among the college programs who want Reuland badly. "He's a tight end offense. Just like New England," Bret said of Weis.

Reuland, who carries a grade-point average close to 3.8, has cut his favorites to Notre Dame, Stanford, USC, UCLA, Nebraska and Miami. He said he could commit during the Diablos' season.

"Coaches love the fact that he's a former basketball player," said Greg Biggins, director of recruiting for Student Sports, which ranks Reuland as the No.1 tight end in the nation. "His size is just prototype."

Reuland appears well equipped to live away from home. As an eighth-grader, he attended school in Germany. He was away from his family, which has roots in Germany, and didn't known the language at first.

While Mission Viejo will lose Reuland to graduation, don't feel too sorry for the Diablos. His brother, Warren, a 6-4 sophomore, is Mission Viejo's third receiver and caught a touchdown against Issaquah.<RECIPE1_NAME></RECIPE1_NAME><RECIPE1_INGREDIENTS></RECIPE1_INGREDIENTS><RECIPE1_DIRECTIONS></RECIPE1_DIRECTIONS><RECIPE1_INTRO></RECIPE1_INTRO><RECIPE2_NAME></RECIPE2_NAME><RECIPE2_INGREDIENTS></RECIPE2_INGREDIENTS><RECIPE2_DIRECTIONS></RECIPE2_DIRECTIONS><RECIPE2_INTRO></RECIPE2_INTRO><RECIPE3_NAME></RECIPE3_NAME><RECIPE3_INGREDIENTS></RECIPE3_INGREDIENTS><RECIPE3_DIRECTIONS></RECIPE3_DIRECTIONS><RECIPE3_INTRO></RECIPE3_INTRO><RECIPE4_NAME></RECIPE4_NAME><RECIPE4_INGREDIENTS></RECIPE4_INGREDIENTS><RECIPE4_DIRECTIONS></RECIPE4_DIRECTIONS><RECIPE4_INTRO></RECIPE4_INTRO><RECIPE5_NAME></RECIPE5_NAME><RECIPE5_INGREDIENTS></RECIPE5_INGREDIENTS><RECIPE5_DIRECTIONS></RECIPE5_DIRECTIONS><RECIPE5_INTRO></RECIPE5_INTRO><RECIPE6_NAME></RECIPE6_NAME><RECIPE6_INGREDIENTS></RECIPE6_INGREDIENTS><RECIPE6_DIRECTIONS></RECIPE6_DIRECTIONS><RECIPE6_INTRO></RECIPE6_INTRO><RECIPE7_NAME></RECIPE7_NAME><RECIPE7_INGREDIENTS></RECIPE7_INGREDIENTS><RECIPE7_DIRECTIONS></RECIPE7_DIRECTIONS><RECIPE7_INTRO></RECIPE7_INTRO><RECIPE8_NAME></RECIPE8_NAME><RECIPE8_INGREDIENTS></RECIPE8_INGREDIENTS><RECIPE8_DIRECTIONS></RECIPE8_DIRECTIONS><RECIPE8_INTRO></RECIPE8_INTRO><RECIPE9_NAME></RECIPE9_NAME><RECIPE9_INGREDIENTS></RECIPE9_INGREDIENTS><RECIPE9_DIRECTIONS></RECIPE9_DIRECTIONS><RECIPE9_INTRO></RECIPE9_INTRO>
