'06 CA WR David Ausberry (USC signee)

Highstreet

Heisman
Height: 6'4
Weight: 215
Fort: 4.45
School: Lemoore HS, CA
List: tOSU, Nebraska(offer), USC, Fresno St.

As a Sophomore, broke the Lemoore singl season record for most yards, totaling almost 800 on the year, while scoring 10 touchdowns. As a junior, played through a high ankle-sprain most of the season. Also, the offense for the Tigers was heavy towards the running aspect of the offense, thus receivers not being heavily utilized.

Ausbery names his 4 favorites. Ausberry likens himself to Plaxico Burress. He grew up watching USC, but was was born in Ohio and has always liked following tOSU. He is receiving mail from all his favorites along w/ Oregon and Stanford. He was just recently offered a schollie by Nebraska.
"I’m not all about my numbers, because the wins are what matters, but I can’t wait to get into a season totally healthy, because that’s when I can make the biggest impact."

David was one of the top WR's in California as a sophomore, but a high-ankle sprain hindered him throughout his junior season. Nevertheless, he is regarded as one of the top talents in California, and should draw interest from many major programs. David was born in Columbus, and still follows Ohio State; he has an early offer from Nebraska, and also likes local schools Southern Cal and Fresno State.

Doesn't there have to be a limit to the amount of top OOS recruits that grew up in OH? It never ceases to amaze me, despite the quantity of people that live in OH at any given point. Keep em coming :)

Just think what Ohio football would be like if all these top prospects were to stay in state and not leave. Ausberry, Reuland and Hakes off the top of my head either were born in Ohio or have some ties.

Hubbard does he plan on commiting anytime soon? I'd hate to see uSCUM get another darn good WR. Ausberry is quickly my 3rd favorite OOS prospect right now (behind Reuland and Hornsby) that I'd like to see tOSU get. When I first heard of him, I didn't see too much that seperated him from the others but I also had no knowledge of his junior season where he did play with the high ankle sprain and record 800 yards receiving and 500 yards on the ground. DA has some great measurables as well, let's hope we get into this race quickly!

Ausberry has not gotten alot of attention from tOSU, but he seems interested in tOSU. Has family in the area (Dad and Sister). Grew up watching the Buckeyes. tOSU has invited David to camp. Nebraska has offered a scholie and USC has indicated a offer will be forthcoming. Stated USC and tOSU are his favorites.

I think the bucks have a pretty good shot at him, if they just show a little more interest. Maybe they have some other people they rank higher. But if an offer from USC is coming well, I think that should tell us something as they take the top receivers in the country.

1 can only hope Tressel and Co. throw their hat in the mix for Ausberry...
Couldn't agree more...I reviewed his highlights for the video thread and it is obvious why USC has offered. He reminds me a lot of Patrick Turner. Compare the two, keeping in mind Turner's numbers are from his senior year and Ausberry is still a junior:

Turner
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 210 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.55 seconds
Bench max: 265 pounds
Bench reps: 10
Squat max: 355 pounds
Vertical leap: 31 inches
Shuttle time: 4.29 seconds

Ausberry
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 200 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.72 seconds
Bench max: 275 pounds
Bench reps: 3
Squat max: 375 pounds
Vertical leap: 30 inches
Shuttle time: 4.66 seconds

Ausberry has great hands and decent technique at this point, but both ahve rrom for improvement obviously. The only thing Ausberry really needs to work on is his speed. If he can get his 40 time down around 4.5 he will probably be a top 5 WR nationally.
