I've seen this kid play a couple of times. Atlantic HS is the same school that produced Omar Jacobs and this guy has an equally impressive arm and significantly better form. He's got the good fortune of having a terrific receiver by the name of Preston Parker (3 star, speedy 5'9"ish) to throw to. I think he's fantastic. I saw him complete a 60 yarder that had smoke coming off it right on the money down the left sideline in tight coverage. The kid has a cannon is about 6'3", 195 and looks a lot like Troy Smith.

Looks like a sleeper to me. I couldn't find him in any databases.

McGraw, defense lead Atlantic rout

By Chuck King

DELRAY BEACH — Sometimes it's hard to tell which Atlantic unit opponents should fear the most.

Quarterback Mark McGraw and the Atlantic offense racked up 382 yards and 48 points. Meanwhile, the defense shut down Centennial and Atlantic cruised to a 48-6 win in the opening round of the Class 5A regional playoffs.

"This defense feeds off this offense," Atlantic coach Chris Bean said. "It's vital that we get off to a good start and play well offensively. When we play well, and we throw the ball well, and those guys catch, and we run the ball well, our defense responds to that."

McGraw threw for 251 yard and two touchdowns and ran for a third in three quarters. He sparked Atlantic with quick TD strikes of 73 and 72 yards to Preston Parker and Michael Dent, respectively.

Meanwhile, the defense shut down Centennial (5-4). Atlantic forced three first-half turnovers and didn't allow Centennial to score until late in the fourth quarter, after the outcome already was decided.

Atlantic (8-2) turned Centennial's first two turnovers into 14 first-half points. Leading 6-0, cornerback Junior Michel intercepted Centennial quarterback Antwaun Edgecombe, which led to the first of Cleveland Hankerson's three touchdown runs.

Centennial's second turnover, a fumbled snap recovered by Atlantic linebacker Reggie Jackson, set up McGraw's 3-yard quarterback sneak.

Atlantic put the game out of reach late in the first half when McGraw found Parker open behind the Centennial defense for a 73-yard score. Parker finished with 99 receiving yards and added 64 return yards.

Then Hankerson took over. The junior gained 74 of his 107 yards in the second half, including a 51-yard touchdown run that capped the scoring.

Centennial's lone touchdown came late in the fourth quarter, when Len Harris burst through the right side of the line for a 55-yard touchdown run. Harris led Centennial with 76 rushing yards.

"We pretty well ended the season the way we began it," Centennial coach Jim O'Neal said. "The same mistakes we made in Week 1 we were still making in Week 11."

On Friday, Atlantic hosts the winner of today's Fort Lauderdale-Dillard vs. Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas game.

Eagles' offense goes with the flow

By David Fox

LANTANA — Atlantic has a funny way of getting into a rhythm on offense.

The Eagles scored on three of their first four plays Thursday against John I. Leonard in a 41-6 victory at Santaluces High to stay undefeated in District 14-5A.

"We wanted to get into the flow," Atlantic coach Chris Bean said. "If we score fast and do things fast it gives us flow. Our defense feeds off the offense."

Quarterback Mark McGraw threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to Jamelle Murray on the first play of the game and a 60-yard touchdown to Preston Parker on the second play of Atlantic's next possession.

On the first play of Atlantic's third possession, Michael Dent scored on a 61-yard run.

"It's a fast-paced offense," said Murray, who added a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

McGraw completed his first four passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns. He finished 5-of-8 for 161 yards.

Even when Atlantic's offense stalled, the Eagles (6-2, No. 7 The Post Top 10) found a way out.

Facing a three-and-out in the second quarter, Atlantic faked a punt on fourth-and-11 with a direct snap to Parker, who found Junior Jean downfield for a 47-yard touchdown.

"The best play was the fake punt," John I. Leonard coach Brian Coe said. "Otherwise, it was throw it out there and let them grab it."

Atlantic's defense had a little trouble containing running back Samuel Florexil, who ran for 134 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries for John I. Leonard (5-3, 1-2 district).

"Tackling was a little shabby," Bean said. "If we didn't have good pursuit, they could have run for 200 to 300 yards."

Atlantic has tons of speed and some size up front, too.

Not tOSU quality...or at least not the same quality as a Henton or Williams. Sounds like a solid mid-level player though.
