'06 FL S/WR Jamar Hornsby (official thread)

Based on what I have read, most school are not recruiting him specifically for offense or defense. Jamar has not decided which he prefers either but he thinks he will be able to play both ways in college. At 6-3 and sub 4.5 speed, I would love to see him on offense. But he also looks like he could be a mean free safety.

That was the long way of saying "I don't know"...

From the FSU site...the Orlando Sentinel has ranked Jamar as the #2 prospect in the state, behind Tebow. Again, his offers are from Florida, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia Tech, and South Carolina. FSU has not shown any interest yet. Jamar's coach thinks FSU will eventually be in Jamar's top 3 and he wouldn't mind seeing him go there.

Hopefully Wells has a breakout season and falls crazy in love with his freshman year at tOSU and can outweigh the importance of Coach Geis' word or any other's. I would love to get Hornsby.

With that being said, I wonder if Geis is bitter towards tOSU due to Maurice's coming here? If so, it can't help us too much.

Hes doing what a football coach should do. Give his kids opinions on how they will fit in at systems...

However when he lets his loyalites to schools sway him (Maurice Wells anybody?) that is where I have a problem with it.

I do hope you're not implying he fits in better at FSU than here.

Its becoming obvious to those florida "speedsters" and athletes that tOSU is a place where anyone's athletic ability can shine on a national stage. We will see a national championship game well before FSU will!

With our current depth at the safety position, I'm surprised they're not looking at Hornsby as more of a receiver prospect. Then again, they've had a chance to evaluate him and I'm sure they know what's best.

His camping here could be a tremendous benefit for our chances. I wonder if Maurice could take him for a spin around Columbus. This could really help open Jamar's eyes to tOSU.

i would posit that osu is just as deep at wr, if not moreso than safety. after this year, salley and everette are gone. whitner and mitchell are gone the following year if whitner stays all 4. thats osu's top 4 safeties. that leaves patterson and welch, neither of which has played a down yet, along with washington and russell, both of which could end up at other positions. i would say that hornsby would have a great shot to start in '07, and get good PT in '06.

Not to mention, I have heard rumblings that Whitner may switch back to corner if need be this year because of E.J.'s unknown status. I could be mistaken, but I think that is what I heard.

EDIT: JUst wanted to add a few pics...
