One of the top linebackers in the country. Also plays running back for one of the top programs in the state of Georgia. Younger brother of Georgia Tech's Reggie Ball and Central Michigan's Raeshon Ball.
Ball is a very physical player for the Jaguars. As a junior, playing mostly at linebacker, Ball had 122 total tackles, fourteen for loss, seven sacks and one caused fumble.

Scouting Report: A very similar player to the Class of 2003's Ernie Sims (FSU). While Sims was about 15 pounds heavier at the same stage, they play the game eerily similar. Ball gets most of his chances at the linebacker spot, and he makes the most of them. He squares up well, and always seems to get good push on his tackles. He has great acceleration a can truly go sideline to sideline.

Like Sims, Ball also plays running back, and is one of the best in the south at that position as well. And again, like Sims, Ball's future is at linebacker. He plays every down hard and makes every hit with a purpose.

Marcus is looking at all the Florida school and was looking at LSU before Saban left. Ohio State has been in contact with his coach.

Marcus is the younger brother of Georgia Tech QB Reggie Ball. Duke has laready offered. Ohio State has asked for film and said they will offer once they receive it. He has heard from all of his favorites except Texas. Marcus prefers safety, but in the end he will play wherever.

Marcus was named the #3 prospect in the country for 2006 by Rivals.

A little confusion here...the first top 10 list had Ball #2. But the AMP video about the top 10 has Myron Rolle #2 and Marcus #3.

Is he from the same high school that Jamal Muhammad and Corey Adams came from? I know they were teammates from Stone Mountain when the Bucks recruited them, though neither panned out. Corey Adams never qualified and Muhammad transferred to Bethune-Cookman.

Might as well go ahead and pick up #3 marcus along with #2 rolle, top-10 Wells, top-50 Hornsby & Reuland, and top-100 small / homan / rose / boren. Man if only JT would start supplying girlfriends as signing bonuses like Propaganda Pete does, we'd be all set.

From the Georgia site...Marcus says he is looking at Florida, Florida State, Miami, LSU, USC, Texas, NC State, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Tennessee. Georgia, LSU and Duke have offered. Academics will play a part in Marcus' decision. Almost everyone is recruiting him as a LB, except OSU, who is talking RB. He thinks he will end up at LB or safety in college.

Are we recruting him at RB, or at LB & RB?
I get the feeling we have been talking to him about either, but he seems much more suited to play LB in college. I wouldn't mind getting Wells, Aldridge and Ball and lettting those there shake out to become either 2 RBs and a LB in this class.

Ball does seem like a bit of a longshot at this point...we all know how tough it is to get Southern kids up here, and his brother playing at GT and the three Florida schools being involved certainly isn't helping.

tOSU is recruiting Marcus as a running back, but he says he is pretty sure he will play linebacker or safety in college. Bell runs the 400, 200 and 100 in track. He is going to attend Auburn's Junior Day.

He is listing the three Florida schools, Auburn, Ohio State, LSU, USC, Texas.

No GT??? With his brother being Reggie Ball, the QB, I would at elast think he would list them. Oh well... I guess good nes for us then. He seems like an absolute stud and, right now, is near the top at OOS players that are must-gets.

Marcus made the "Elite 11", a group of the top players in the state of Georgia; several other players interested in OSU also made the list - Asher Allen, Carlos Brown, Bo Harris, Rashad Jones, and D'Vontrey Richardson. The author seems to think that Ohio State has a good chance to sign Marcus, but that Auburn and Florida will also be major players.

UGa Rivals (05/15/05)

Marcus also starred at the Tallahassee Nike combine, where he was the best linebacker prospect in attendance.

Rivals (05/05/05)

Marcus is now a member of the Rivals 100 list.
