'06 IN RB James Aldridge (Notre Dame signee)

A good get of a top player, from their own backyard, for the Domers. It will be interesting to see how he's rated by the various services, based on the choice and the early commitment.

Good get for the Domers. ND is putting up a solid class already. I also agree that we have found Tom Lemming's #1 runningback for the '06 class. But still Weiss is doing a fine job, but he's got to get it done on the field first.

While I hear what y'all are saying:

Yes, he is from Indiana, but he had tOSU and OSU and TSUN all on his "high" interest list at one point or another, ND coming in by storm and nabbing him.

That's why I'm saying that ND "yanked" him from all the other schools.

He pretty much eliminated tOSU after CW committed...it was between Oklahoma State and ND.

If ND cannot win a recruiting war with Oklahoma State, that program is truly dead...no offense to the Pokes, but the legacies are not even in the same galaxy.

The thing I don't get is that he says he doesn't mind sharing carries w/Prince at ND, becuase when it gets time for him to put his name in the draft he won't have the wear-and-tear as he would if he were the only back there. However, once the Chris Wells commitment was set in stone, we dropped. Does he not see Prince as a big threat as Chris would have been (I don't blame him...)? Or was it that he saw our depth and realized he would probably have to wait a while (again, I don't blame him...)? Either way, we have Wells2x, Haw and Pittman and I am happy with them. You can't have to many backs, but bringing in another Top 100 back would crowd the backfield and may cause rifts in the chemistry. Bradley Stephens is there for the plucking in 2007, and I like what he brings to the table... let's get him .

He may not mind sharing carries with Prince because they are supposedly good friends. Aldridge only moved to Indiana relatively recently. Before that, he lived in St. Louis, where he was a teammate of Nick Patterson and friends with Prince. Maybe it's easier to handle splitting time in that scenario.
