28. Brother Martin (New Orleans, La.) 34-2 (32)

Almost quietly, the Crusaders finished the regular season on a 16-game

winning streak and enter the playoffs as the undisputed champion of

District 10-5A after sharing that crown with two other teams last season.

Last week, Brother Martin beat second-place Jesuit (New Orleans) 58-53 on

Tuesday and Holy Cross (New Orleans) 68-59 on Friday. D.J. Augustin

scored 20 points to lead Brother Martin past Jesuit. Against Holy Cross,

Augustin had 21 and Ryan Brock 19. (PelicanPreps.com)

D.J. is a very talented player and I hope we have a shot at him.

Augustin finished with 28 points (9-16 FG, 6-8 3pt), 11 boards and three assists

D.J. was named to the PelicanPreps.com All-State Basketball Team.

D.J. shot 48 percent from the field and 42 percent from the 3-point range. He's been on all the major colleges' radar since his freshman year and gained extra acclaim last season when he led his team to the Class 5A state championship. He probably could step into a major college program right now and run the point.

Saturday at the Kingwood Classic in Houston, Texas, the point guard put in 12 points and eight assists in a 67-60 victory over the New York Ravens.

Roy Williams and Rick Barnes came out to see him last week, Wake Forest and LSU are also very much in the picture.

(Wake has offered him, could help our cause with Conley.)

Augustin is down to LSU, Texas, and Wake Forest at this point and is in the process of setting up visits to each school.

(D.J. says he likes Wake because Chris Paul is gone and Prosser has told him he can come right in and take over the team. I guess Prosser has seen the writing on the wall with Conley at this point.)
