It could be a difficult decision for offensive guard prospect J.B. Walton of Indian Head, Maryland.

J.B. Walton is a member of the Scout.com East Hot 100 and one of the nation’s top offensive line prospects. Walton, 6-3 and now 276 pounds, is from Indian Head (Md.) Lackey High School.

”I am not doing much this summer other than lifting and running,” said Walton. “I do plan on camping at Penn State next week I believe. I just want to work hard now and have a great season. My first goal is to make the honor roll then I want to make the all-state team, make some all-american teams and play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.”

Walton has a slew of offers with no leader at this time. But all of his top seven schools have offered and those schools are Tennessee, Penn State, Nebraska, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.

“Tennessee is a powerhouse school with a huge stadium and they pack that place in every week.

“Penn State has all that football tradition and a great coach like Joe Paterno. I met him and liked him. Everyone is so loyal to him. I also saw them practice this spring and they looked pretty good.

“Nebraska has a ton of tradition like Penn State. It seems like a great place to play and that entire state is all about Nebraska football.

“Both Florida and Florida State have so much talent year in and year out. And many of those players go to the NFL.

“Oklahoma has won so much recently… so many games and conference titles. They are just a great team that put players in the NFL. “So does Ohio State. They also have a great atmosphere and play in so many rivalry games. “I just want to narrow this list down some time during the season and then make my visits.”

The Buckeyes are still in the mix....

BSB - Mike Wachsman - 07/04/05

JB had some interesting Nike numbers - an acceptable 5.25 forty, but only 15 bench reps; he did post a really nice 4.87 shuttle. These numbers just go to show how measurables can misrepresent a player's abilities - JB is a terror on film. With a redshirt year and a great college strength and conditioning program, JB should be a monster at the next level.
