'06 MN DT Walker Ashley (Minny...no, maybe USC......no, PSU...no, Minnesota commit)

Dang, we NEED to load up to DT's. We are solid at DE for a while, and quite possibly have Robert Rose coming in as well. However, we lose Pitcock, Penton, Patterson (probably moving inside next year) and Schafer after next year... leaving only Denlinger, Abdallah and Cotton on scholarship plus whoever we get this year. Ashley would be a stud for us. We need him in Scarlet and Gray.

Just on this page we have the following "probable destinations":
8/22 - Minnesota
11/17 - USC
11/23 - Ohio State re-enters the picture

Hopefully by the time January rolls around, Walker has Ohio State on his mind. We could use his talents in the trenches on either side of the ball.

"I am 100% committed to the Gopher program and will not look at any other schools this time around. I have actually notified all of the coaches who were trying to get back in touch with me that I appreciate their interest but I really just want to stay home and play for the 'U'."

Wonder what caused him to rethink his decision, possibly the fact that Minney will never challenge for the Big 10?

I am personally sick of this kind of stuff! I only want to Bucks to pick up the players who have Buckeye in their veins! I think we will be fine with Larimore and Rose! Let this kid go west!
Just my opinion!

Edit: removed bashing

I agree with you here. But coach JT is all about second chances and helping young men. I wanted Ashley to come to tOSU earlier in recruiting process. So I'll be fine if he still comes here.

I am thinking...someone from tOSU must have contacted Ashley and that means coaches want him here... that's why he added us in the mix

Sometimes young kids make a decision and then realize it was the wrong decision, I think everyone needs a second chance now and then. I see no reason to attack a kid because he didn't select Ohio State the first time around.

Kids grow up and things change.

I've never understood this mentality.

Rose could very well move inside. If some of our true DE's step up this offseason, I could definitely see Patterson sliding inside as well.

For some reason, I have a feeling he was set on Minnesota but once he got his test scores in and found out that he would qualify for Ohio State he is now looking hard at us. Just a hunch, though :)

I can't understand the people who are like OH HES NOT A BUCKEYE BECAUSE HE DIDNT COMMIT AT FIRST! Give me a freakign break, he is 18 or 19 years old, he doesn't know exactly what he wants or when he wants it. I would bet 50% of us would commit on the spot if any university gave us any of the attention that these recruits get. He just happens to sometimes use his heart instead of his head which is OK for a teenager to do. He changed his mind, period. You have done it too. If your kid wanted to transfer from a school, would you treat him like you treat these football players? Nope...I bet not.
