'06 OH LB Cobrani Mixon (Michigan signee - Kent State transfer)

"OSU has, in general, ignored Colerain for decades. JT is doing a nice job of building some in roads. It is just going to take a little more time."

Hopefully these inroads can get built soon, before colerain becomes a pipeline to scUM ala Glenville

If tressel can win 2 of 3 against scUM consistently, Colerain will come to their senses. Plus no one on this site thinks scUM is headed to the NC this year, whereas we definitely have a shot. Also, does colerain not mind that the defensive coaches up north are moronic, and are as clueless in their defensive schemes as their position changes? They have a bunch of talent up there, far too much to be looking as clueless as they do on defense.

I agree 100% with you. But it is very hard to get inside of a 17 year old's mind. It is very unfortunate, but most people in Cincinnati feel there is a certain level of arrogance towards Cincinnati from Columbus and North East Ohio. That is why there are so many scUM fans down here. Most kids don't grow up dreaming of wearing the scarlet and gray down here.

I played at Colerain in the mid to late 80's. I remember going on that trip to scUM...and I will not lie...I was highly impressed. I got to meet Bo, practice in the big house and take a tour of the campus. I had some talent (I was a sophomore) and the scUM coaches had me at hello. :( Thank goodness injuries and dunkin dounuts kept me away. :) That is what Cobrani and Connor are going through. Both went to scUM camp as freshmen and their first impressions of the big time were of TSUN...and it was at a time when OSU really did not have a presence in Cincinnati. JT is trying to change that and build those bridges...and I think (and Hope) that Connor Smith will be the key recruit to help that cause.

I thought I read where he would commit as soon as he received the offer....
don't believe everything you hear...as, apparently, I should not have. the offer has not been given yet. What I have confirmed is that, if Cobrani looks good at the scUM camp this summer they will offer and he will commit.

Highstreet, good pic of Cobra. I think he has put on another 10-15 pounds of muscle since that pic was taken.

does that mean if I go to the scUM camp and look good, I get an offer too?

From what I've heard there is a good chance Mixon doesn't even get a UM offer- they are just really low on scholarships, reportedly around only 13 available for next year. Sure that number could increase with players leaving but right now the number is about 13. Has tOSU already offered him?

OSU has not yet...I would not be surprised if there aren't a few LBs that OSU would want before Mixon. I think Thad Gibson, Jeremiha Hunter, Akeem Hebron, James Aldridge (either as a RB or LB), Micah Johnson (either as a LB or DT), and maybe even Dorin Dickerson and Tommy Becker are higher priorities than Mixon. I may be wrong, but that is my gut feeling...

similar situation to your Wolverines...they seem to be more interested in Gibson, Toryan Smith, Hunter, etc...

Yeah, I agree 100%. Michigan is going real hard after Dickerson, Aldridge, Johnson, and Hunter- just like the Bucks. I really think they only offer Mixon if they lose out on all 4 of those guys or if Mixon just tears it up at the UM camp.

It is way too early to tell about any of these guys, but I think Gibson and Aldridge are probably leaning towards OSU if anywhere at this point, although Michigan does have Aldridge's dad as ammunition. Johnson reminds me so much of McKinney that it is hard not to see him in the maize and blue. Hunter is a toss up...I think it comes down to OSU and Michigan. Michigan ahs been in on him the longest it appears, and that may help their cause, although OSU has the fact that he and Wells have struck up a bit of a friendship. Pitt is hard after Dickerson, but I don't know if it is enough to steal him away from Michigan. so here's how I see things playing out amongst the LBs if I had to say right now:

Gibson - OSU
Aldridge - OSU (probably as a RB)
Johnson - Michigan
Dickerson - Michigan
Hunter - ????? (maybe OSU's in a numbers game?)

Mixon probably is one of the guys on the outside looking in when all is said and done. I have to imagine that there will be other Big 10 teams that go after him at some point, but I just don't know that either OSU or Michigan has the schollies available to take him. I'll bet schools like Minnesota, West Virginia, Illinois, Michigan State, Indiana and maybe even Virginia Tech start throwing offers his way soon. Like you said, his performance at the summer camps could make all the difference in the world.

Becker seems to like the Gophers a lot considering they have already offered and he is a local. How does Michigan look with Toryan Smith?
