'06 OH LB Cobrani Mixon (Michigan signee - Kent State transfer)

From the 'Take this for what its worth' department:

I was at Colerain yesterday for their first team gathering/info session. I congratulated Cobra on his offer from OSU. He was pretty excited. I asked him how long it would be before he made himself a Buckeye or did he have other favorites (tongue n cheek...just having fun with him.)...Connor Smith was near by and heard me ask the question. Connor jumped in and said 'He's coming to OSU with me or I am going to kill him." with a big grin on his face.

Just thought you guys might appreciate that snipit of conversation.

I'm looking for a big grain of salt as we speak, but that is great intel just the same!

Glad to have insight into Colerain, and am even more excited to reopen the door to an excellent school that sent too many to the wolvies...

That will never be a concern on BP bro.
I think Chainsaw was just kidding around grad. Everyone knows that BP will never have anything to do with a premium site and nobody will give these stupid teasers. Chainsaw if you were just joking around don't forget to use your smilie icons.:wink2: :)

Thanks HG for the great info. You really seem to be on top of things in Colerain, and you have great inside sources. Here's to hoping both Smith and Cobra are Buckeyes very soon, and we can tap into Colerain and get a little pipeline going there too.

H&G you are not setting us up to go premium are you. Other than Simpson (from Michigan) and Askew ( don't think we offered) who from Colerain went to scUM?
Colerain, for all of its football success since the early 80's, has not really been a hotbed for D1 talent. Jefferson Kelly was the last top notch recruit. He did go to OSU, but his career was cut short by injury. It is more of a 'friendship' that the school and the staff have with TSUN. NFL tight end, and former wolverine, Eric Katus was a Colerain grad...that is really the only other former Cardinal that I can think of that went up north. But the team does camp there in the summer...and I remember that gwad awful feeling of having to learn the heathen song and singing it for Bo...:2004:

Heck, my sophomore year at Colerain we even wore winged helmets...I almost quit playing football because of it.

All I can say is that Jim Tressel, and his staff, have done a spectacular job of rediscovering Southwest Ohio and Cincinnati in particular. I can't thank JT enough for that. It will take time, but I see a day when SWO will finally be true Buckeye territory.

Well here's to landing the first major recruits from there in a while...

Did anyone watch you sing or did you just mouth the words? Cuz that's what I would have done... and winged helmets in Ohio just seem so wrong...

JT has blown away Cooper in so many ways... he's matched his productivity but has protected Ohio and regained ground in lost areas like this one...

HB- do you mean Gibson? You might be getting footbal and basketball mixed up, but I agree Gibson and Mixon would make a great great LB class. I wouldnt mind Hunter either or Dickerson or Hebron as Aths.
Of course, Gibson. That would make three with Homan and Mixon....

I like how Cobrani will have little influence on Conner's decision (in the sense that Cobrani wasn't thinking about OSU earlier), but now Conner is pushing to bring Cobrani with him. Very nice!

Rivals $

6/8

Cobrani has offers from Ohio State, LSU, Michigan, Louisville, West Virginia, Miami, Kent, Ohio, and Michigan State. Coach Tressel called and offered Cobrani personally. He says his Top 5 is LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, and Tennessee. He will decide this summer.
