'06 OH OL/DL Billy Nagy (Wisconsin signee)

Hey... Just helping out what sounded like confusion...

nice work my friend...

again, I think the key point to notice here is not only is Nagy scheduling other visits, but after an interview with BSB guru Bill Kurelic, Nagy's profile now reflects no interest in OSU. As 44820 mentioned, this is most likely the result of no offer from the Buckeyes yet, but I think to those of us hoping he does get an offer, it is worth noting that nagy is starting to move on without OSU...

I am not pushing any panic buttons, but the reticence of the OSU staff to offer is likely going to cost one guy they eventually offered (Thomas) and another they eventually could offer (Nagy). These kids aren't lap dogs. If the staff is happy with an OL recruiting class consisting of Smith, Browning (probably) and Ballard (maybe, after a year or two at TE), then so be it. But there are serious depth issues on the horizon. Might be a good year for an OL to walk-on.

Edited to correct gibberish in first sentence.

Coach Bollman had an in-home visit with Nagy this week also.

IMO I think that if you send the line coach to an o-lineman's house for an in-home then you are pretty serious. I still say if we can't sway Thomas we will offer Nagy. I am sure he knows this and that is what he is waiting for. There migh also be a small chance that we would offer him even if we get Thomas, but that would be 4 guards in one class.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

I'm just not getting this one.

Nagy was the only big-time HS player that I got to see this year. As I posted way back, I didn't even know who the kid was before I saw him play. The size is certainly there. This kid gets down the field almost too fast for his backs to keep up. On top of that, He WANTS to be a Buckeye.

If this staff doesn't think the kid is good enough to play here, then fine, tell him that and move on. But, if they're making an offer to him contingent upon someone else turning them down then that just plain sucks. Granted, you want to hold out for the best players available. BUT, if this kid is THAT close, I say piss on the other guy, and get this kid into camp.

Worshipper...

All upper echelon schools slow play certain recruits. While it is probably frustrating for recruits to know that they may be option 2, it is a necessary evil for top programs to be able to hold spots open for the best talent.

We can't always take people just because they "want" to be a Buckeye.

I am purely specualting here, but I think soon we will see and offer to Nagy and he will accept.

That would give us Smith, Browning, and Nagy, and maybe Ballard.

I am also hoping for Miller from PA.

I'm speculating here too, but as much as I'd love to see Nagy get a schollie, I think Joe Thomas's confirmation of his Pitt pledge brought along Miller's offer. If Miller hadn't gotten that offer, I would have to think that Nagy would be next in line. However, it SEEMS that Miller was the next, based on the timing of the offer. It seems they're still stringing Nags along though just in case, so anything can happen. I really want Nagy in this class, but ya gotta trust Jim.

Well the staff had been keeping Miller a secret for a while, and the offer to Miller was before Thomas's visit which they still felt they had a good shot at b4 his visit.

As for Miller vs. Nagy they play different positions. I think the hold up could be the staff deciding if they really want 3 guards in this class as Smith, Browning and Nagy all project as guards.
