'06 OH OL Joe Thomas (Pitt Verbal)

It seems that mom and dad are on board with Ohio State. That has to play a major role in his decision. That and, well, Pitt is an absolutely awful football team. I highly doubt that Wanny will even be there by the time he would finish his career at Pitt.

Here's hoping for a Joe Thomas verbal on Sunday or Monday.

from the mass/lakewood st edward game he was one of the few that stood out

He reminded me of tim anderson on defense, he is very athletic and keeps playing hard for a lineman. He must know the secret of great endurance for a lineman

I cant believe the buckeyes waited this long, he will be a good one on either side

Man this looks like a coin flip. I could see this going either way.

The kid has been visualising himself playing as a Frosh in a Pitt uni.

Now he has reluctantly agreed that he will look at the Bucks a bit more closely.

It is like having doubts after the church and guests have been invited to the wedding. It isn't too late, but it is a hard path to reverse.

The easier choice is to stick with Pitt.

The better choice might be to play for the home team and JT.

Very tough call for the kid.

Remember though... His reluctance has always been in articles written on the Pitt site or by Bob Lichtenfels (who writes for the Pitt site in addition to the national site). This may be why he sounds reluctant. Plus, now he is setting himself up with an excuse to give to Pitt should he switch his commit. That excuse is of course that his parents would rather see him go to tOSU...

Oh I agree 100%. I am just being Freud here.

IMO the kid is a solid citizen that wants to do the honorable thing his life. He is probably not comfortable with his dilemma and does not wish all of this controversy surrounding his recruitment.

He might think the Bucks are a better choice, but he might stay with Pitt because of his personal values.

I have respect for either decision. It will be hard either way.

I agree. It is not an enviable situation. I'm sure he's got pressure to go both places.

With Thomas scheduling a Pitt visit the following weekend, it's obvious that a decision will be made quickly. If blown away by his OSU visit, he'll make the call to Pitt and never make the trip to Pitt. If he takes the trip to Pitt, I'd be shocked that he'd swith to the Bucks.

By all accounts out of St. Eds, Thomas is Boone's equal or near-equal (of course a smaller version at 6'3"-6'3.5", by comparing the 2 standing next to each other).

I think this is a job for John Hicks, Jim Lachey, Orlando Pace, and the entire 2002 OL.....have all available show up at The Woody to greet young Joe, just so he understands just how much OSU means to an Ohio kid and his future after school is over. Of course, most of those guys are too busy this weekend in the NFL, so I guess Hicks, Lachey, Rob Sims, Nick Mangold, Alex Boone, and Frosh 2-deep center Jim Cordle will do just fine.

Go Bucks! Come on down, Joe Thomas!

I'd love to land this kid. I'm sure he's conflicted considering he already made a verbal committment to Wanny but this is The Ohio State University. No matter what the decision it's okay to change your mind Joe.

See I like the fact that we have Tressell and he will be a straight shooter and say if you want to honor your commitment go right ahead, but we would love to have you at tOSU.

I think the main thing about this is that he is a Tressell type kid, and Tressell has a great chance of changing his mind.
